Vibrant exhaust tip question

I tried searching but came up empty... Not quite sure what the hell this thin I'm sure there's a post or two out there but oh well.

I've got the Vibrant exhaust on my car... I guess my mechanic took it upon himself to install the... "inner exhaust tip sound insulating thing" (for lack of a better term). I unscrewed the... screw just now to see how it is with it taken off... but the damn thing still won't come off. I yanked on it pretty hard but don't want to break anything. Does anyone have any clue how to get this bastard off/out?

The "silencer " is a tight fit. You need to get hold of opposite sides of the outlet and pull out evenly. You may find that you like the exhaust better with the silencer in place. It can be alittle loud without it.

just use a w-40 , soak it well and pull it evenly and it will move out.BTW- I tried to take it out and its way louder than with it in.

still haven't got it to budge... so I'll try the WD40. may just leave it in though... were there any noticeable gains? was it worth taking off?

i had the same trouble with mine. its all of the carbon build up that glues it in there. i dont think there are performance changes leaving it in or out at the level you are at but it sounds amazing out... so get it out!!

find something long with a hook on the end. stick it through the silencer, hook the back side (if you use two tools you can pull it out evenly) and pull evenly.

if that doesnt work, you can put a big ass washer on the end of a wooden pole (use that end to hook the inside of the silencer), then attach another wooden piece perpendicular (i slipped it through the wooden shaft), then you can smack the perpendicular wooden piece with a mallet to knock the silencer free. i had to do this, it was frozen in there.
