Variable speed intermittent wipers

I know most of you know about this mod already, but some of the noobs may not.

I finally did my first mod to my car. After discovering on Sunday that the wiper stalk from the '03 MPV will work on the P5 and thus adding variable speed intermittent wipers, I immediately ordered one from www.mazdastuff.com. Price was $87.88 plus shipping. They shipped it on Monday UPS ground, I received it yesterday. Installed this morning in about 15 min (7 screws and you're done). Works perfectly - now I'm actually looking forward to it raining to try it out for real. I'm excited because this was one of the things that bugged me the most about my car. Woot-woot!!!

BTW - for those who don't know, this only works for the P5. The sedans need a euro model that can be ordered from www.corksport.com

You might be able to find one in a junkyard somewhere. You can use the wiper stalk from a '99 - '03 MPV. I decided to go new because I'm too lazy to check junkyards, plus I like the look of new.

The stalk from the tribute (or even escape?) should work as well. This was the very first mod I did to my car, and I don't regret it for a second. A wrecked is probably the best place to get it, for the best price.

I did this a few months ago, made a world of difference in the rain, can't wait til the snow comes!

I gotta do that. Thanks for price info, I'm too lazy to deal with the parts idiot at the dealership unless as a last resort.

Thanks for that heads up - I'll be upgrading this weekend if the stealership has the part in stock!

how about some "how to" for the noob like me

=D

It is in the how-to section. But in case you don't see it:

1. Remove the three screws under the steering column (the large recessed holes).
2. Pry apart the upper and lower half of the column cover (I used a putty knife).
3. Remove two screws holding the key hole (ignition) light in place.
4. Remove two screws holding the wiper stalk in place.
5. Disconnect the electrical harness near bottom of stalk.
6. Pull the old stalk out, slide in the new one.
7. Reverse instructions 5-1.

Takes 10-15 min. Easiest mod you'll ever do.

I dunno, sticker mods are pretty easy, and add enormous amounts of HP!

True. Bigger stickers = bigger gains.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to disable that door chime either while this is being done.

I didn't even think of that when I installed this. Though the door chime generally doesn't bother me.

I believe they will all work. And I really gotta do this too, would be nice!

15 minutes!!!???!!! Damn, I suck. . . I've had the stalk sitting in my garage for months now. I was planning on installing my drivetrain on the other car tomorrow, but I suppose I can spare 15 minutes and get it installed.
