Vacuum Line for Wastegate?

Hi everyone,

Well just got my 03 MSP a few days ago and have the fun P0171 code giving me issues and can't really pass smog at the moment. I'm already going to take a look at the usual for that one... (BPV leakage, MAF issue, WGA, manifold crack... etc.)

But just out of curiosity does anyone have a picture of how or where does the WGA get its vacuum source from?

The previous owner T'd off the line from the BPV and ran it from there which i think is incorrect because i keep looking at engine bay pictures and it seems wrong...

If anyone could help me out or is locally available where I could check out there engine bay that would be great!

Alex.

In stock form, the WGA gets its vacuum source from a nipple at the top of the intake manifold. That source is also shared by the BPV.

Most guys who want a more stable and consistent vacuum will cap that nipple off and opt to run a vacuum block on the brake booster line so that they have a dedicated line for each vacuum needing item.

If its a stock wastegate, your best bet is for it not to see vacuum, but rather only see boost pressure from the hot or cold pipe

Thanks guys I'll look into it more then...

I think the vacuum block might be my best choice since I'd need more sources a boost gauge as well.

if you want a vac block, i make and sell them for a stupidly cheap price if you dont mind that theyre hand made and arent "perfect". check the link in my signature. ive also got a few irregulars on sale for stupid cheap, here
