Also, with the RX-8, sit in the passenger seat for a bit. I noticed that the transmission hump intrudes terribly into the leg room, forcing me to sit sideways. I knew my wife would not be willing to put up with that, so it was one more strike against the 8.
Sit sideways? Oh man, it's not that bad unless you have huge feet! I've been in Porsches that are much more cramped. There's plenty of feet & leg room in the 8. Another reason I loved the style of a 4 door sports car.
I had a 07 V6 Mustang Convert rental for 3 days. Just in terms of fit and finish I found the 8 to be much more refined. After my P5 I looked at the V8 Stangs, 350 Z, and such. I simply fell in love with the 8 over all. In fact I owned a 85 Mustang GT Convert and loved it!
Simply put, get what your own heart desires. Everyone will have different opinions, choose your own and don't back down because of one thing or the other.
