US Diesel's big splash introduction

I guess we'll see in about 20 years who's 100% correct, I'm sure this thread will remain at the top while we're still waiting for diesel engine heh

Elons prediction that half of the worlds vehicles will be electric within 15 years turned out to be not true at all. Since Toyota invested into mazdas engine tech, my money is on compression ignition and then eventually hydrogen fuel cell power, which should start becoming popular soon. Teslas cause almost as much damage to the environment as gasoline does.

Getting back to Mazda and diesel...this is very interesting...it looks like Mazda's decision to bring diesel to the US isn't such a bad idea after all since many other brands are seeing significant growth in their diesel uptake rate (well above the 10% that Mazda is shooting for) for models that have a diesel option: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4151761-u-s-light-diesel-market-grow-168-percent-2018-another-86-percent-2019
Maybe when they get their act together for the CX-5, they might expand it to the 6

Mazda could learn a few things about product announcements from McLaren.

McLaren and Mazda are different companys. One delivers to the masses the other does not.

McLaren delivers products to their cars because if they don't then they will fade behind other hyper car manufacturers.

Mazda does deliever products but if they don't give everything, it isn't the end of the world.

You wouldn't know it from some of the posts in this thread!

Well...yeah. It's a thread about a vehicle they promised us we would have half a year ago, nearly, by some interpretations, and at the very least, over 3 months ago. Yet we don't even have an update from them.

I'd say no news is better than BS. If they could provide a reliable timeline, they would. They can't so they don't.

But I guess if they won't give us a product to b**** about [and you KNOW we would], we'll just have to b**** about them NOT giving us that product. :D

I wouldn't b**** about it if it worked...and had normal features everyone considers standard even on base trim levels.

But we'll probably never know.

Nyias in 3 weeks..not going to plunk any wagers down but I'm saying there's a chance..to get something. I plan on getting something beyond Mazda remains committed to bringing the cx5 diesel here bs firsthand.

Inside knowledge (uhm)

It's not clear whether they will ever tell the public if they have given up on it. I can't find any Mazda announcement or press release about cancelling the Mazda 6 diesel. I can find statements that are nearly identical to what they are saying now about the CX-5, and at about the same degree of lateness.

Don't think there is a statement anywhere re the 6 diesel. They just abandoned it and eventually the press/reviewers/public stopped talking about it

Good chance it will just quietly disappear from their "future vehicles" link on the website. Perhaps coincident with an announcement about SkyActiv-X or something else flashy to get people's attention.
