US 2007 Mazdaspeed3 and Mazda3

mazdaspeed

It looks pretty sharp. However how much is this baby gonna cost? I was thinking of buying mazda3 2.3 hatchback, and its sticker is 20k(little much). Guess can always check with dealer they might have info..

just saw price, looks to be high 20k almost 30k. Out of my price range. Though the new look of the mazdas are good, almost makes it tempting to wait til '07 come out..dont think my car will make it another 3 months...

Hunh? The usual estimates have been $23-25K and the MS Axela (Japanese 3) has a list price equivalent in yen to $20K before taxes per their 6/6/06 press release.

talked to the largest dealer in nj and they said 1000 mazdaspeed 3's will be delivered for the intitial release and that they wouldn't start arriving until october. He said that they would recieve the most speeds in nj but he wouldn't even put me on a call back list. He just told me to call back in august, which is when the pricing will be released.

$23-25K is pretty close. The Japaneese press release price was more than likely for a car not epuipped. Auto manufacturers love doing that to get you to the dealership. How many times have you seen an add on television for a car in the $16k range and never see it on the lot. :( There will also be a substantial coolness factor markup (Market Adustment) since dealers are only going to get 3 or 4 units. Just look at the Mazdaseed 6. I've seen those in the mid $30s which to me is way too much for a Mazda...personal opinion.

I read a price on road and track of just over $25k. Not sure which package it had though.

Not anymore, no markups anyway. Too many sitting on lots for that BS to fly any longer. A lot of good deals to be had on the MS6. I almost wish I could start over since I bought mine in Dec. I did okay given that they had just arrived at the dealerships at that time. Actually, if I'd known the MS3 was going to arrive as soon as it appears it will, I'd have waited for it. 20-20 hindsight.

did they do a test on one? if so what issue?
no, they weren't available for testing I think. I know they had some performance tests like 0-60 and 1/4mile and other things. I was not too impressed. I guess they were good, maybe I just set my expectations too high. As for the issue, I dont remember exactly. Maybe april or may. Try emailing them to find out for sure maybe.

those were likely just estimated numbers. they did that w/ the MS6 as well; most mags had "estimates" of 0-60 in the high 6's...then the real-world numbers were much better.

new information from my local Mazda dealer.

A Corp Mazda rep stopped by the other day and gave my guys the down lown on whats going on.

She gave them pretty much all in the info we had but some other stuff. Mazda will be releasing the stock mph at 250 but thte latest dino was 268, they will keep dyno until hte have a suficient speed or in other words stable.

Also, the pirce of the MS3 has not been released yet but its nothing way over the oriinal price of the current M3. The $24k questmate price should be correct.

My mazda rep will not be back till moday b/c he is on vacation this weekend but i'll get the info they gave him and i'll giive it to you all.

Now they are taking orders now or names at least and its a $500 deposit to have a car held for you when it comes. I will be reserving a blck mzsd3. I will be probabaly the first in Oklahoma have to have one waiting for me at least. I know I said that aboot the ms6 i wanted but i decided to wait till this dropped late agust late sept.

What do you all think aboot that?

Cloak, thanks for sharing but what do you mean " releasing the stock mph at 250"? And "will keep dyno until hte have a sufficient speed or in other words stable"? I think we need some more "in other words" 'cause I'm not following those words.

Also, $24K for the Sport or GT? An M3 GT with enough options to make it similar in style to the MS3 GT is about $22K MSRP, so I would think $24 for the Sport (which few if any dealer will order) and $25.5K for the GT.

I think he meant the official hp rating will be 250, but the latest dyno actually showed 268 bhp. I guess they want to keep tweaking it until they can get a consistent dyno reading.

Is that what they said late aug. or late sept? I hope so(yippy)

the cars are being built in august, which means the earliest we will see them at a dealer is late september/early october...

they also have not said what the 25k will get you... my dealer is hopeful that the 25k will be the gt without nav and the sport like 23k, but there will be no official number until the orders are in and they are actually being built

Exactly Nate and jbiird you're also correct but I hope the You're talking M3 not MzSd3 about nav and all b/c that's just added weight I dont need in my MSpeed.

The funny thing is (random story) I had a dream the other night I was in the parking lot looking for my car with a friend and we couldnt find it, then we came up to a hatch and my subconcious mind said hey, it's the MzSd3 and it's black! (what I'm ordering) I had the keys and unlocked it. The dream ended when I drove away like some car commercial.

I'm known to have preminition dreams so maybe that was one of them. But I hope I dont get lost in a parking lot!

Thanks for the translation. That was kind of what my subconscious mind wanted to tell me, but my rational mind couldn't accept it, what with the MPH and "consistent speed" references. Cloke, can I get some of what you're smokin? Sounds like fun. I'll drive over to OK and pick it up since we don't want to risk sending it through the US mail.(peep)

If the dynos that owners/vendors have done for MS6 is any indication, Mazda will never get a consistent dyno and it will have to stay "more than 250 hp". Hard to believe that the exhaust path is that much more restrictive than the MS6's, but the MS3's engine compartment does look really cramped.

On the price, does anyone think they'll actually build any Sports? I'm thinking maybe next year. I don't want the extra weight of a GT either, but I doubt dealers will order anything else until the initial craziness is well over. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, from my understanding, MzSd is all there is, no special editions. My dealer said they ordered a couple, that translates to 3. If there will be a GT like the MzSd6 then idk

my dealer is putting in an order for 3 of the 11 he is slotted to get total for 2007.... 2 of those were GTs (blue and red) and one was a sport (silver), i agree tho, the gt's will probably sell first... im not that worried about what little weight the gt package will add, maybe im missing something, but i dont think that the gt package would really add that much weight anyway?

as soon as he gets pricing info i am putting down my downpayment for the blue one... still curious about what exactly the cosmic blue will look like, anyone have any clue?

Yeah, I never saw anything exact on the comparative weights, just some speculation that the leather/power seats added a 100 lbs to the MS6 GT compared to the Sport. But I just found some specs for the Aussie MPS3/6. The "leather package" on the 3 adds 25 lbs. On the 6 it adds 60 lbs. Not that big a deal.

Mazda has released its 3 MPS and with 190kW it's officially the top of the hot hatch pile

Mazda has officially launched its hottest hatch ever. The Mazda3 MPS goes on sale in Australia this month. Indeed, we're one of the first markets to see the 190kW hotshoe front-wheel drive five-door in dealers' showrooms.

Priced from $39,990, the 3 MPS shares its turbocharged and intercooled 2.3-litre DISI direct-injection petrol engine with its 6 MPS all-wheel-drive big brother. The 3 also features the 6's six-speed manual gearbox and gets uprated brakes, suspension and special body strengthening to tame its 190kw/380Nm output.

Featuring an innovative torque control system which senses steering angle in the first two gears to help eliminate torque steer (the bugbear of high-powered front-wheel drive cars), the 3 easily out-powers the current hot hatch crop.

With 190kW the Mazda tops Ford's XR5 (165kW), Holden Astra SRi Turbo (147kW), VW Golf GTI (147kW), MINI Cooper S JCW (154kW) and RenaultSport Megane 225 Cup (165kW). It even betters the likes of the significantly more expensive Alfa's 147 GTA and the soon to be released Golf R32! And in terms of torque output the margin is even greater.

Mazda says the 3 MPS will accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 6.1sec (0.5sec faster than the 6 MPS) and go on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The real performance story is in the car's in-gear urge, however. With strong boost from 2500rpm the 3 MPS accelerates almost as quickly from 70-80km/h than it does from a standstill!

Styling revisions are subtle with the changes echoing the aggressive edge added to the 6 MPS. Equipment levels for the hot 3 include climate control air, 18-inch alloys, sports seats and quality MP3 compatible audio system. A full complement of safety goodies including multi airbags, switchable stability and traction control, and ABS brakes with emergency brake assist and brake distribution.

Buyers can also opt for a $43,650 Sports Pack 3 MPS with leather trim, BOSE sound and xenon headlamps.

According to Mazda, around 130 3 MPS' will find their way into new owners' hands each month. This number is in stark contrast to the 30-40 supply limited units Ford can supply of its XR5.

Look out for CarPoint's drive launch review of the Mazda 3 MPS soon.

Pretty awesome. The MS3 torque control system must really be doing the trick. I know different country, different cars, but it's still an indication.
