OK everyone I've got the cams installed but it idles fine at 1000 rpm but there is a problem when i rev it up it misfires and just about spits out fuel it runs so rich. The coils are ok I know that and it idles fine. If the cam position sensor was bad then it wouldn't start at all. There was a grinding noise but we foudn out it was a cover loose. But it still doesn't run for crap. Please if anyone might know or has had this problem let me know ASAP.

CH, I haven't installed the cams on the pro...but I know on some other cars I've run into similar probs like the one you say your having. sometimes the t-belt will slip off 1 or 2 teeth when reinstalling the cams on twin cam cars. Did you check to see that the cam pulley's were both in time at 180 out. Usually what I've found works is check the install at TDC the rotate the cams 180 out using the crank sprocket and check the timing there. usually if it's spot on there after the tensioner has been applied then it's good to go. Other than that the only thing i can think of is either the crank sensor being slightly out or the cam sensor pick-up not reading properly.

OK well the timing marks are right on. And if the cam position sensor was bad it wouldn't start same with the crank sensor. I checked to see if the bolts on the cam gears were a ferrous metal and interfering with the Cam sensor but they are made fo a non-ferrous metal so that wasn't it. I cut my valve cover but i know i didn't bend the part where the cam postision sensor is I dont' know what it is:confused:

hey ch, About the cam and the crank sensor. The ECU only needs to see a reference signal, which is just a straight baseline low voltage signal, from both when the key's turned on. If the cam or crank was just slightly out of postion then it might cause the rich condition. Sorry man...reachin for ideas, i can't think of anything else that would cause a rich condtion from just installing cams.

I jsut thought of something last night. Maybe the cams are different between the 1.8 and the 2.0 and that is my problem maybe i'm letting in too much fuel and air and its making it bog because I know I have the timing set correctly this is the only other thing I can think of.
