Update on headers

yes you will.

it just may take a couple hundred miles.

and whats a "cell" :p

where are you getting this information? everything i've read about the header says that it will not throw a cell. people have been driving around with them for more than just a few hundred miles. i think awr came out with a header w/out the fittings for the sensors but now they are coming with those fittings, maybe your information is based on the first one?

no they dont sundevil its still underdevelopment but the assholes are still marketing it anyway...now they say it might be discontinued anyway

you will eventually get a Cell, there maybe a lucky few out there. they also may have the o2 simulators.

the AWR (and any 4-2-1 header) removes the first cat. which has the o2 sensor before and after it. the ECU is reading both and making sure the second o2 sensor is reading cleaner exhaust then the first o2 sensor. if they are reading the same it throws a cell. I know I had a 4-2-1 on my Zx2 which was OBDII (like our car) and had two o2 sensors around the car. I didnt have a Cell for about 5 months. then it threw it.

My cell light has been on for awile now. I'm supposed to be getting a cheater mil eliminator that will get rid of my cell.
I will post my results whn I get it wired in.
Hopefully this weekend.

All,

If you are worried about getting the AWR header simply because you will get the CEL, don't be. $50 bucks for an 02 sim. seems a pretty cheap solution. May as well go with the header that offers the most power potential.

Now the only problem is paying $450-$500 for a friggin header. No thanks. So many other companies make headers for different cars for $200-$300. I'll be waiting for one of those, or just buy the RacingMazda MX-6 one and get the EGR welded up.

People...

CEL = Check Engine Light
cell = cellular

BTW, there is a group buy going on for the Racingmazda header. We are trying to get him to wild the EGR bung where it is needed for our cars.

Are you in charge of this now? :p

Yea, the price of the head is kind of a downer..but, have you ever bought headers before? They are all this price..On my trans-am I spent roughly 430$ for hooker headers..You get what you pay for man..200$ headers? AROSPEED? I'm sure they would make it out of plastic to save money..the AWR is the best way to go for headers on the proteges..with the right set-up you WILL NOT trip a CEL..(not cell)..start saving

well the arospeed were supposed to be stainless steel, but see my post about how they still arent even in production

Yea, I doubt they'll even make them. There has been so many issues with building the headers for our motors, most of the companies originally in the running have dropped intrest..so its up to AWR, racingbeats modified header, or the shorty jungle of piping header

me too, but my next mod is a mid pipe that eliminated the 2nd cat from wagnermotorsports...im selling stuff on ebay right now to try to pay for it :-)

yea I just emailed andy about it, I should have the downpipe and midpipe and new 2.5" piping all the way back done in the next week or 2..stay tuned for pics and sound clips..

did you go with the midpipe that eliminates the cat, or with the cat...im going without...he said it will bolt right on, so i dont need new piping at the moment passed my second cat...he said the midpipe will connect to the stock piping on the rear side, and the precat on the front side...so when i get my awr header, the precat will be eliminated too and ill be catless! he needs to sign up on this message board he could make some money considering he is the only person i know of that makes a mid pipe to eliminate the cat that bolts on
