so i met a fellow spicy msp and we went for a pass. he has highboost fmic, ghl 3" turboback, unichip and an intake and was running the 13psi + good gas map. I took my boost controller off since I only had 91 gas in the tank but i decided to go for a pass anyways. We were limited to a 1 lane road so I followed behind him. We went 2 times and by the end of third he had about 2-3 carlengths on me. I was only running 8psi(my stock boost after exhaust and fmic) and no methenol.(uninstalled until I redo the pipes again) I offered to run again the next night with a boost controller and he didnt want to go.. I think his name is mike I told him about these forumns a while ago and I think he made it on here, so if your there chime in,(btw lets go for another pass :) ) btw the ghl turboback sounds great, especially when you are on the guys ass. Mike was smart he didnt cheap out. (first)

-see ya at tims

how did his unichip not seem so good? that he only pulled 3 car lengths in front of you?

3 cars lengths at 13psi vs my 8psi with 91 gas...I cant wait to see what happends next time :) both 03 Spicy, they look mint together

interesting. I'm high 13's right now w/ my Unichip, TBE, FMIC combo. stock intake :)

maybe he's getting hella timing retard w/ 91 @13psi?

he had good gas im pretty sure cause he said im running the good gas map not "MAP B" so i dunno. i will talk to him tonight hopefully. he seems like a good guy/ maybe I can snag a vid.

map b is the 95oct map, which to me; would be the "good" gas map. who knows. try to get some more info from him tonight.

btw- when did you swtich from water to methanol injection?

same system, sometimes I use just water with low boost, sometimes I do alot of meth little water, vice versa etc. just depends on what kind of boost i wanna run. i have the entire system out of the car right now, the install was ugly and my IC to TB pipe was having issues with the silicone couplings getting torn up from crappy clamps, so I just have the stock IC to TB pipe on for now. I wanna see if I can beat him without the injection first, if I lose again Ill put her back in and try for the third.

he installed it a few days ago so i believe its outta the box maps, i talked to him again briefly and he said he was having some weird studder at 2K during daily driving so I dunno,(my guess would be cause of the fmic) car sounded fine to me guess we will have to wait for round 2 if he will go when i have a mbc on :)

theres nothing wrong with unichip btw i was just surprised that having both fuel and timing control vs the stock unflashed ECU (+ colder plugs at only 8psi) didnt reap more results. I just put the MBC back on, spins into 3rd :)

unichip is making power with reliablity in mind. Sure you can make more power but thats also harder on the engine. Kinda reason why race engines were built to throw a rod after the finish line. You think 12psi and making 250whp is gonna last long?? think again.

well... if he's using out of the box maps, then i'm sure with a custom tune he can yield more power. where's the closest unichip tuner? toronto somewhere?

well, like any EMS, it's not just for increasing a crazy amount of power, unless tuned really aggressively. it's for increasing power reliably and safely. the unichip probably gave him 25hp.... he won't run away from you with just that.

none in canada that i know of, pretty much the reason i stayed away from UC. Not saying its supposed to be an insane power increase, but for the $ I expected more.

14psi spike - 10 to redline for a year and a half with 62K and great compression...still thinking....

yes i know the obvious limitations of the FS~push the envelope-watch it bend... (until a rod flys outta the motor anyways :) )

i was curious and the Unichip website says Magnus Motorsports is a Unichip dealer. not sure if they tune as well, although they can tune with other ems products out there i don't know why they won't be able to tune with the unichip.

well, 12psi with EMS is a whole lot better than 12psi without EMS. :)

ok well i talked to him again tonight. He said he thinks the cars ECU is learning around the unichip, not sure if it can do that, but he says it not as fast as when we raced last time so he doesnt want to run.I said to just reset the battery and drive it for 2 days then reset it again kinda deal but he said he tried it and its the same. He is also trying to find a unichip tuner in canada or somewhere close to the ontario US boarder if anyone knows somebody please chime in. Not sure if his hiBoost IC is handling the 13psi well, anyone else running unichip with hiboost IC?

I have dsm afc with my mods listed plus full turbo back exhaust. And i run 10 psi when on track. A buddy of mine has ion fmic unichip and all the exhaust you can put on one. plus intake and we are within a car of each other depending on who gets a better start on the track. He has run 13.52 on drag radials i have run 13.84 on street tires and he says my car pulls harder then his.
