Very true. If you like it. Do it. Don't let us change your mind on something you like. I wanted neons when I first got my car, but seen old buddies getting pulled over no matter what color, getting pulled over here and there. Drawing attention to yourself for no reason. I Didn't want to go through the hassle of that, and over the years it doesn'r appeal to me anymore.

i think gay on the outside, but on the inside it is def yay... my protege i had green neons under the dash and under the front seats so that the whole floor glowed green at night. I thought it looked cool, but then again, i installed them when i was 18 haha

i like them on the inside even on a daily driver... outside is really only for a show car cuase as everyone said you can't really drive with them on (legally) so whats the point... for a show car though you can neon the engine bay, the underbody, the dash, trunk, under the seats.... all kinds of s***..

elderly - if you like it, do it, who cares if ppl think it's "gay". If someone beside you is laughing at you they probably think it's a Mazda 3. Then you burn them with your sleeper car. =D

PS. I thought about doing that too but apparently illegal (?) which makes the decision for me not to. Instead, I'll do some interior lighting, which you might want to consider as a compromise.

I think underglow looks nice if the car is not done up too crazy (hood scoops, big wing, and sideskirts).

My brothers has underglow LED kit for his Civic SI (no, hes not a fast & furious), with just some nice rims and exhaust on it, and I love the look of it.
None of the bulbs are showing and the Multicolour LED kit lets you choose 25 different colours and lighting mods.

It sure as hell makes for a nice car photoshoot!!


If its only $100 and your planning on installing them in a profffessional manner, DO IT.

if u wanna see underglow done right, there are a few members on here that have them set up for their show cars. JasonKilpa is one that i have seen in person and it looks very cool. Talk to him or the EClites vendor here on the forum

trunk lighting with neons would be fun. I don't actually have my trunk light plugged in anymore for whatever reason.. I have some misc cold cathode lights from one of my old modded computer cases, hmmmm

UV (blacklight) would look kinda fun.

with black, anything goes. whatever you do, just don't be the kid who drives aroudn with them on. The first time a cop sees it, you'll be pulled over. not worth the trouble. I also don't see why everyone makes such a big deal about it.. so some people want to do "showy" mods on their cars, who cares? We bought Mazdas, not dodge neons.. we got the well-styled cars, so clearly some of us care about nice looking things.

Personally I think they look cool but I think the vast majority would vote for the "its a lame and gay ricer thing" which unfortunately at least in SoCal is true for the majority of the cars you see on the road with them.... way over the top looks: 10 ft wings, 3 foot side skirts, lowered so much its scraping on asphalt, black hole exhaust tips, badly alligned xenon headlights, tires too big forcing a crappy camber, neon inside and out, stickers covering most of the front glass and topping it off with a "what you looking at punk" attitude....

Oh please no, so incredibly rice. Please don't give mazdas a bad name by putting neons on them, I have anough trouble getting respect in my gsr, don't need that to happen to the speed 3.
