Un-Installing turbo on Mazdaspeed Protege ???

Hey fellas,

I'm in the process of putting a bigger turbo on my Protege cuz the stocker blew.

So my problem is I have the stock turbo completely un-installed from my car except for one hose/line. The line sits on top of the turbo and is mostly some kind of metal wire wrapped in rubber, but turns to hard metal piping right before it hits the turbo.

Where it does hit the turbo there appears to be a nut that would let the line free but there is NO WAY to get a socket OR a wrench in the wierd ass spot.

Has anybody taken their turbo off of their MSP? sorry i dont have pics to be more specific on the line im speaking off, but thanks to anybody that can help in advance.

i'm stuck in the same spot, i looked at the garage manual and there wasn't anything "special" it just said remove it, i'm going to buy some crows feet and see if i can get it off with those

Sounds like the oil feed line, If you can't get it off the turbo you can follow it to the back of the motor near the oil filter and remove it from there.

I had the same problem, it is the oil feed. get yourself an 11 mil. wrench and should come off without problems. I jacked with it for awhile with a a 10 mil. then got frustrated and went up the street to buy the proper wrench and got it off in 5 minutes. Once you get it broke lose that metal elbow can be moved from side to side to help keep it out of your way to get the wrench in there.

yeah the bolts are not standard mazda sizes on the turbo as its made by garret. you need an 11mm stubby wrench to get at it and even then you need to hit is a weird angles but it should not be on there that tight

yup. i just used a regular wrench, instead of holding it flat like you normally would hold it at like a 45 degree angle just enough to get on it. that will break it loose and then your good to go.
