two step vs. no two step

well he probably shouldn't have gone around a corner at 120... he isn't in group b or anything lol
all i know is that my buddies took his wrx wagon out and they don't really go above 2nd gear its kinda like autox but on mud/dirt

You are right about Evo owners... as 90% of the idiots to buy those rally/drift cars never take them off the pavement.... and DRAG race only... WTF is point of all that suspension and design... if you slam it to the ground and scrape on every bump in the road?

/endrant

Sorry... just bothers me that ppl buy cars and have no idea what they are used for... Which is why i got the speed6... Sure its got AWD and 4 cyl turbo like the evo.... But it is in no way designed or setup for Rally/AutoX or any other crazy s*** like the evo... (yet it can keep up quite nicely no less)

I am prepared to be flamed but you couldn't be more wrong about Evos and their owners. The WRC Evo in the past was meant for rally racing but the Evo that Mitsu sells for the street is a different car. The street car is not built for rally racing without significant modification. Its strength is as a track and autocross car. However, turbo power and AWD makes for great drag racing as well (just like the DSM before the Evo). And the 2 step is a great drag launch aid. Mine is set at 6000rpm (factory was 5000). It allows you to launch with 10psi and avoid bogging the motor like AWD tends to do with a drag launch. Also, the Evo owners who slam their rides to the ground are just ricer idiots. They ruin the handling and balance that the car has stock.

I wouldn't say the axles are weak, though I have broken two.

It is a force exerted by the crappy mounting of our rear differential cases. The case moves too much, putting a LOT more pressure on the axle at the dif.

A 2-step wouldn't lead the axle-breakage. Think of it as one less thing to concentrate on when launching (at the track). For me at least, I can't hold the gas at a certain RPM for too long, as I like to focus on my footwork and the lights or countdown. With a 2-step, just hold the gas down and it will hold the RPM at w/e you set it to,about 5k RPM in the Speed6 should be fine. Now, all you need to do is feather the clutch at the right time. Remember once you let go of the clutch, the 2-step (the '2nd' step) comes into play and you will approach redline.

Just my way of looking at it. MSD makes them, but I don't know anyone myself who has installed it aftermarket yet. My buddy has one in his garage waiting to go into his S14.
