Turning off TCS?

Whelp I was browsing through the Speed3/6 forums on here, looking for my EMS quest, ran into something that might be of interests.

They said that if you were to turn the ignition to ON, than hold the DCS/TCS button while the traction control turns off and on, than start the car while still holding the DCS/TCS button for few second it turns it off.

So I tried it today on the way home. It "seems" to work, but because of the CX-7 over weight it kinda hard to peel out or anything of that sort.

I need to continue to play around with this, and like to see others will put in feedback. Unlike the speed3/6 the traction control and "DCS/TCS OFF" light doesn't stay on. What I HAVE noticed is that at a complete stop, normally on our cars you hit the DCS/TCS button the light will come on, and once you start going it goes off. After I did the sequences above, the DCS/TCS button doesn't do anything at a complete stop. So maybe its REALLY OFF?

As of right now, driving in this "mode" coming out a left or right turn hard on teh pedal, the car seems to just loose traction, the icon with the slip logo comes on, but I haven't felt the car reducing power, only my natural instinct has. like I said, need more play and inputs

Anyway try it, and let the community know!

UPDATE:

After turning off the car, and restarting. The TCS function is working again... so looks like it's not a complete off solution.

Just pushing the DCS button only turns it off under 20 mph. Try holding the button for about seven seconds. Everylight on the dash should light up and go crazy and stay that way untill you turn it back on by pressing the button again once. Congradulations you have turned off the DCS, now why?

Why would anyone bother to turn it off? We're not drag racers, are we? If I want a car to have an ass-kicking launch, I would have bought something else. Well, nice input though.

When I disconnected the battery to move my amp around, the car started up and naturally DSC/TCS was not on, It felt like it pulled a bit more, I think the TCS limits the car just a bit.

I still want to go through a puddle without TCS bringing me down to a near standstill, its more than just an ass kicking launch, most of the time I don't want TCS to interfere and it does.

I think CX-love is correct. Why would turning off the TCS make your car any faster?

Because if you hit any sort of remotely slippery spot (oil, stone, bump, gravel) while you are launching the system immediately kills the power.

However, with it disabled the wheel in question just gives a quick spin and chirp once it finds traction again and you are on your merry way.

I agree that had I wanted to win drag races this would not be my first choice. But I do love the look on peoples faces when I rocket away down the on ramp... especially if it's curvy.

Brake torque it up to about 3250 rpms and it will really throw you back in your seat.

Even with the TCS off the AWD never lets the tires chirp, I do notice some laggyness when I go through a puddle and its diverting power to the rear, Still not as bad as having TCS take out all the torque for five seconds.

I'll have to try it on mine (FWD).

Why do it? That's easy, you don't loose power ripping out of a corner.

I've gotten mine to chirp. I brake torqued it to a little over 3500 and let her fly.

It was just a quick chirp and it may have only been one wheel but I definately heard a chirp.

I wouldn't recommend doing that very often. But the look on the SRT4 neon driver's face was worth it.

The main reason I got FWD, it feels and actually is faster than the AWD in accelleration. Of course turning TCS off on the FWD model makes it fast in a fun way - it lets the wheels spin below the critical 18 mph point. I don't care if it turns on after 18mph - but i noticed, this car is crazy sometimes, when the Turbo and Torque is full blowing, even in 3rd in manual mode, the DSC sign starts blinking like crazy and u feel the wheels spinning and torque steering for a few sec.!! (I actually had to shift it from 2nd to 3rd and it didn't help - RPM remained in the same position in 3rd!!!, the power sometimes feels almost uncontrollable, and the DSC keeps blinking but doesn't do jack, guess it was just telling me that "ur wheels are spinning".
Nice/fun feeling, but inconsistent. AWD owners may not experience this.

Yeah, I don't at all, we have a FWD edge, god that thing feels crappy when I want to power through a turn, AWD is the way to go! Upgrade the intake and the BPV and you got a AWD faster than the FWD, FWD just does not put the power down very well and needs traction control, AWD does it very well.

If the FWD CX-7 had a traditional throttle cable system, ppl would've been smilin. Some of us want a little wheel spin, so next lease for me is LEXUS IS 250 6 Spd Manual, new models have complete cut off switch for traction control and stability control.

Tried it and it doesn't seem to help much. That or DSC doesn't like wheel spin in corners and cuts power. (shrug)
