If we could just get someone with a good quality one for ~300 - 400 then i would get excited.
dream on.

I would pay $600. I really do not want to mess with removing the front bumper. A good SMIC would be a big improvement over stock. I don't race and never boost for more than 20-30 so I don't care for FMIC.

Has anyone volenteered yet ?
I guess I'll call Hoover in the mourning.Does the car Have to be stock?
When I was there for R&D on the hard pipes my car had to be stock.

yeah know if they use my car then they can get the combined performance of their hard pipes and intercooler together. cool!
i volenteered.
talked to hoover, i might be driving out there next week.

from LA! dude thats not worth it.I drive through SanRamon every day.
Is your car stock?cause I think it needs to be stock for the dynojet.
they say completely stock, even springs or hood alter the dyno.

Probably a dumb question but I dunno much about sidemounts...how much HP would this acctually add? Anyone know a general range or is this a wait and let it be dyno'd?

I dont understand How a Set of Hard pipes and a SMIC could cost about 850-900 dollars (If the SMIC is 450-500) and you can buy a FMIC for 975-1000. I want a SMIC and will probably buy this set eventually but a FMIC is more materials, more time fabricating and designing since it isnt a stock replacement. I just dont get how so much more work for a FMIC could cost just as much as less work with less materials for a SMIC. The whole reason why I would want a SMIC is becasue I dont plan an making huge power AND to save money over a FMIC Kit ...just doesnt add up

This is one of those things that everyone always asks about I/C's... well the answer is .. probably not much. What the IC will allow you to do it run more boost and cool more air quicker and more efficiently and slow the process of heat soak. Our current IC's heat soak in about 10 mins in the heat ... they were not even vaugly designed for our car ... Mazda just stole them off a turbo desiel someone made 10 years ago.

I really hope this is $300!!!(nana) (nana) (nana) It's the only way I could keep my Turbohose hardpipes and be as good of a deal as the FMIC's out on the market...

think I'll still go with the hi-boost FMIC, just not worth spending that kind of money for a SMIC when for a little bit more you get the FMIC and the evil look!

Not to flame at all, but I dont know that a FMIC is more work. After all, the end tanks of the SMIC are all custom, and the extent of the development of a FMIC is run some pipe and hack the bumper. You could pretty much buy the core and pipe yourself, grab a saw, and do it over the weekend. This is probably why there are about 5 companies w/FMICs for the MSP, but really none w/SMICs out.

Theoretically, it could make horsepower regardless of heat soak, if the pressure drop across the intercooler is less and/or the temperature drop is greater.
