turbo

I get the usual whistle sound when the turbo on my msp kicks in, but when I let off of the throttle to shift there is sort of a rattling sound from the same place. It does not happen all of the time, only at certain rpms.

could be the wastegate. I know Mine does that sometimes but then again I have a different setup now dont I.

From your description, it sounds like the re-circulator valve (BOV) chatters occasionally.
When you get off the throttle, this valve is opened to release the pressurized air. Its vented back to just prior to the turbo inlet.
I don't think its anything to worry about.
The wastegate is only engaged when you reach the boost pressure it was set for. This would open when you are still on the pedal building boost.
