Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, been over at clubpro and proclub and ERDT for a while. Anywho I got a question for anyone with a BPTor BP-05 turbo.

So today I got my new ACT installed by a tranny shop. They call me up and all the work is done and great. But they cant keep my car running. So I went up there to see what was up. i looked over everything and couldnt find a thing. I even checked for error codes and nothing came up. What is pretty much does it start up, idel around 2000 then slowly go down to 1000 then sputter and cut off. Black smoke does come out the muffler so somthing is runing rich. I am thinking they didnt put somthing back or somthing got moved or whatnot. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll reply but I won't be of help. You have to check out all the Vac lines and all the wires. If it isn't thowing a CEL I don't know what the problem could be. A CEL would most certainly come on if there was some sensor unplugged so I'm at a loss. Sorry Bud. I'll think about it tonight and If I come up with someting I'll post you. I have this "gift" to think about a problem whille I'm sleeping.

I have checked every vac line. I went in today to the shop to see what I could do. I took the plugs out and they were black as hell so its running too rich. i put in another set I had in my box, started up, idled around 2k, then went down slowly, then died at 1000 rpms. The shop replaced the o2 sensor, I knew it wasnt it. This leads me to belive that it is the MAF. Either they dropped it, or did somthing, thats gotta be it. I have had it with this place, breaking my s*** and then are like uhhhhhh you want to pay for a 150 dollar MAF? (braindead

Gotta wait for tomorrow to toy with it again. I just dont see as to why this could have happened. Can MAF's just go like that? Also i have a question about how i should approach the shop. Since it is in their care and has not left their shop, they are responsible for everything that happens right? Like I am not going to pay for any of it, they were supose to put in a new clutch ect., not break my s***. I am getting really pissed at this point, almost a week with no car.

what are u useing to control fuel?

i would check all fuel stuff, cause correct me if i'm wrong, but i've tried starting my car with my MAF uplugged... and it didn't start... those things either work or they don't work, i don't believe their is an in-between.

I have GTX injectors, walbro fuel pump and the apexi SAFC II. I took out the spark plugs today and they were really blackend, put in some clean ones and it started, but then died at idle. I am thinking VAM or for some reason my SAFC has been screwed with. I will check tomorrow again.

I was under the impression that the SAFC was not able to function with Mazda?? What car are you running?

It runs with the Mazda, up to WOT. At WOT the computer ignors most sensors and goes off pre-mapped fuel/timing/ignition settings. I have a 1991 Escort GT with the BP-05 motor(1.8l DOHC) turboed with the VJ-20. I am going to check my settings on the SAFC just incase for some reason when they removed the battery they got reset or somthing. Thanks for the replys guys, keep them coming.

Well I got it fixed finally. Turns out an IC pipe coupler came loose and me and 2 other buddies and all the techs there over looked it. They were really nice about it and I got a new o2 sensor out of it. Clutch is alot stiffer and drives great. Got a little bit of an idle issue, but I will sort it out. Thanks for the help guys.
