Turbo swap, 25R to 16G?

another question you gotta ask yourself.. why put a bigger turbo on it if you won't be able to use it to it's full potential?

Like you just said, you cant even use the stock turbo to its full potential w/o going forged.. Thats like saying why even have a turbo on a car that cant hold the power? Good job contradicting yourself..

It's the same thing as the volvo I had you could run up to 18psi ut you would bend the rods and you would need a new engine or rebuild. Although I know some one who put a 16g on a volvo 850 but he had a built motor.

where am i contradicting myself??

Saying why upgrade when you cant use it to its full potential when you cant even use the stock turbo at its full potential..

you call that contradicting myself??

isin't that.. like..logical to you??

if you can't use the GT25 to 15 psi in a safe manner without being forged

why buy a bigger turbo ??

CFM is CFM.. from any turbo...and CFM equals HP.

im not critisizing those that have 270 WHP on a stock motor here.. in fact i find this incredible. but you got to admit it's a bit risky when not forged.

how much would a stock motor give out with th stofck turbo at 15 psi ? just curious.

Your logic on that subject (from what I understood) is saying if you cant use something to its full potential, why have it..

my logic is why use a shotgun to shoot a fly instead of a flyswatter ?

why put a large turbo for absolutely no gain exept for saying to people.. ohh heeey, look at meeeee i got a T3 on my msp.. but i can't boost more then 5 psi or the rods will see the sunlight.

that why i say that. why invest in time and money for something you can't use?

if you have an enlightment for me please share it.. i'd like to understand.

There are a few different flavors of the 16g
small 16g - usually 340hp
big 16g - usually 350hp
evo16g - - usually 380hp
I have the evo 16g and am pretty happy with it. The smallest amount of boost I can run is about 9psi. It reaches that by 3800-4000rpm and pulls to redline.
I used to have a dsm t25 when my motor was stock. From outside, the turbo looks about the same size as a 16g. look at the compressor wheel and youll see a big difference.
I ran the T25 at about 13 psi on my stock fs motor for about 2 1/2 years with no problem using a safc and larger injectors. The evo 16g pulls way harder at 9psi and is probably safer then the t25 at 13psi. A smaller turbo is going to work alot harder to make the same power as a larger turbo at less psi. In doing so, the smaller turbo will also create tons more heat during compression as well as higher egts.
DSM turbos are cheap. The only problem is getting them to bolt up. If you or someone you know are handy with welding, Id say go for it. Otherwise just save up for the disco potato.
