Turbo Rotary Mazda B2600i Minitruck Build!

I have a spool gun for my welder, I haven't messed with aluminum yet, but it makes working with Steel alot smoother as well! I only paid $230 for the gun that fit my welder... so I's imagine they are around that price for yours.
As for aluminum, it shrinks really easily, so welding it can be a pain in the ass! But i'm sure with some pieces of scrap to practice with you could catch on pretty quickly!
i found one locally for a good price, but theyre cheaper online. the killer is u have to run straight argon gas with them, and a small cylinder of that is $250 with the purchase of the bottle, so im looking at around $500 to weld aluminum... ugh

ya, i heard they splatter real bad and also u have to move super fast and u push ur bead rather than pull, but im sure i could figure it out. i will be using it more for tacking stuff together and filling holes. we have a tig at work, so all of the final welds will be tig'd.

Most of the spool guns I've seen were over twice what I paid for my welder, ie. 1k+. I've heard of guys getting a second gun and a short 6-8 foot lead and using a teflon liner and still running it on the internal wirefeeder with acceptable results for a lot cheaper. Of course just buying a TIG is the most baller solution! :D
i have no room in my garage for a tig, but someday, i will have a plasma and a tig...

This thing is crazy, man, I love it
I registered just to sub and get updates.
well, its warming up around here... should have some updates soon!

Sub! For a fellow Colorado Mazda!
thanks man! always nice to meet a new Colorado member!

well, i got out in the garage yesterday despite feeling sicker than hell. i cut into my bed thats going to the crusher just cuz i wanted to try this mod that ive been thinking about for awhile. needless to say, it didnt turn out how i wanted, but it felt good to get out the grinder and the welder.

then i got some scrap metal and practiced my welds just to make sure i still know what im doing after a winter of doing nothing lol...

supposed to have someone coming to pick up my other truck this week, so hopefully i will have some room in the garage to get some final fab work done and start gettin this b**** ready for interior and final paint!

Can't wait to see the truck done but make sure you recover before hitting it hard.

It definitely makes sense that you could find a gun cheaper online... but $250 for a Bottle of Argon? Wowza.... I have a 15lb Bottle I think... maybe it is 30, I only Paid $100 for the bottle, and $30 or $35 to fill it...

idk why certain things are so damn expensive...

Well i ordered some stuff but im off to North Dakota for work for a few weeks, so im sure ill be bored in the hotel spending money...

Also i sold the rx7.

Yep! And as soon as the other Mazda is out of the garage then its time for a standalone and wiring and fire this b**** up!

Also final welding and all that fun jazz!

loooong time ad no updates-- well my friends, the wait is over!

i have sold the rx7 and the b2200 is supposed to be gone sometime today!

i went to denver with a wad of cash yesterday and got some long awaited parts!

ill start the updates in order of how i got them, since i have kinda been holding out on u guys for one big update!

here we go...

this doesnt really have anything to do with my build, but in a way it does i guess.

i got a shed s i can get all of the unnecesary junk out of my garage and give myself more room to work...

all loaded up from the house i got it from. what a pain in the ass.

this is what we found underneath... thats gotta be healthy.

so ya gotta get the shed off of the trailer, and this shed is f***ing huge and there was no way to carry it by hand, and i needed it in the back yard, so i grabbed a crane from work to make life easier...

the looks we got from the neighbors and the amount of random cars that drove by was hilaious...

so i got the shed set in the back yard and started getting stuff out of the garage.

down to one truck and room to work now.

then i ordered my aluminum spool gun so i can weld my intercooler piping together, but it hasnt arrived yet. still need to get a bottle of argon also... will get pics of that when it arrives!

so i was saying i went to denver yesterday...

i got a line on some parts off craigslist, so i texted the guy and we got some stuff figured out. this was on thursday. i decided that i couldnt take a chance on someone else getting this stuff, so i blasted up to denver yesterday with a bit of money to get some stuff i just couldnt pass up!

the plan is to tear this engine apart since it was known to run ad compression checked great! the s5 center iron will go on the re engine so i can use the mounts i had fabbed up for the engine thats in the truck. then it will be polished out and painted and then assembled and wired up!

just need to get a few other things and then start building my harness and all that fun stuff.

since i have room in the garage now, i will be pulling the cab foir final welding and also workin on the new bed and getting everything buttoned up. looks like i might actually be close to firing this thing up before the end of summer if all goes well!

keep ur fingers crossed!!!

Very nice updates... gotta love having a crane at your disposal! I wish I could say the same!
As for the Engine find, i'm sure that is a great deal, but Rotary seems like Voodoo to me... I really should read up on them some more...

borrowed a crane...???? How the hell do you just borrow a crane?!

Oh nice parts there too. Now quit playing with the damn crane and get that motor in the truck! j/k

I'm with Cypher, one does not just simply borrow a crane from work..
Great updates though.
Turbo three rotor should be pretty nasty

I would really like to hear the conversation on narrowing that Crane

"Hey John can I barrow a Crane for a bit?"
"Sure"
"Sweet, thanks man"
