turbo making odd noise

yes, your k04 ms6 is so fast. pull out a digital caliper and measure your inducer and exducer. 06/07 ms6s have the same pos k04s along with the ms3s and they all have turbo seals that go out. if you had an msp, the reason it was slow was because you bought it in bad shape or didn't know how to fix it correctly.

Well aside from the banter here in this thread I too am having an issue with my turbo and need some advice.

Car has roughly 76k on it, owned since new, not a single mod and I can honestly say aside from oil changes i've been horrible at maintaining it. Therefore I think I may have done some damage to the turbo. Two reasons:

(1) Turbo is leaking oil as it has oil all over the outside of it can't pinpoint the oil leak yet haven't tore into her.

(2) This is the main reason. When given any revs it makes a very loud high pitch pur. There is very little boost as well. The noise is extremely hard to explain via the internet but it is definitely coming from that area.

I'm not looking to make this a crazy machine. Thinking of exhaust, intake, FMIC, that's more than likely it, so a turbo up grade is out of the question. Is the factory one re-buildable? I thought I read somewhere that it isn't. (help)

But wait the K with swap into the MSP, it bolts right up with some simple refabing of the mani, DP, and ayeah it'll swap right in...

well, lets see i never owned a MSP just raced a whole lot and not only were they all slow but they all shat out nassssty blue/ black smoke.

and i already know that all the ms3 / ms6 / cx7's have the same engine and same turbo yet NO you are deff wrong about them all having bad seals cause as i said before my car has NEVER puffed out any blue / black smoke.

all of the 06 models have had bad luck, blowing motors ..turbos going bad , bad transfer cases bad differentials yet my 07 that i have owned since new has never had ANY problems so instead of us all bashing our model mazdas lets try and be a mazda community... up to you

PS...my k04 mazdaspeed 6 is O s0o0o much faster then manyyyy MSP's out there due to their lack of factory power and the type of people who buy them...(young kids knowing very little about driving)

You must have drove a Mustang with lots of stickers in a previous life.

Get bent man... so your car is faster who gives a rats ass.. Bring it down to 6psi and then you can compare but then again your engine is larger as well. yeah your car is heavier to but then again your compareing two completely different cars and class imo...

Not all MSP puff out blu/black smoke... my friends straight pipe msp only puffs out black(gas not oil), and my msp doesnt puff at all even with 75k on it.

2. learn about turbos then get back to me. you're no where technically inclined to discuss such topics.

i respect what most of you have to say and your opinions and i'll try to keep my cool when writing.

in my defense i only started writing all this bs because i just gave my opinion on trying something wacky and installing a K04 onto a protege...then i get some asshole telling me how dumb i am and basically to f*** off so i lost it and started ranting.... like i said i love most jdm and i really do hate it when we all get like this.....

except my apology for maybe insulting some of you and lets continue writing about how awesome all our mazdas are! =) have a good holiday my mazda brothers!!!


Thanks for that, you have to rember when posting in the msp section not to diss the msp too hard. I understand how things can be misunderstood in the intanetz, apology accepted. ;)
 
I chukle reading this. MSP has a stock T25 turbo. Saab 9-3 9000 9-5 and a small year group of 900s use a T25. second gen eclipse uses a T25. Sr20DET has a.... thats right a T25!!

My turbo seems to be ok under all conditions except when your foot is to the floor. When accelerating hard I hear a very loud whining noise that sounds kinda like a bad bearing. But whats odd is it only does it under full throttle. Stock boost, stock everything.67k on the clock. Should I check for shaft play? How woudl I diagnose this problem? Thanks in advance!

Is it like a whistle (like boiling water in a cattle)? Mine has had this whistle under WOT since day one. I think it is normal, soulds like a valve venting excess pressure.
