2003 MSP #119
That's right folks, a TRUE 3" has been made. I will have lots of pics here when we get back to the shop because I forgot my camera last night, but let me tell you, this thing is a monster. It will be the first real 3" downpipe that I have seen for a MSP on this board. Beau and I spent 5 hours already just mocking it up, and it is only tacked at this point with no flange for the midpipe yet. I will be heading across town to pick up some 3 bolt flanges so we can finish mocking it up, and then Beau is going to finish welding it up. He is also going to finish shaping the pipe to fit the turbo flange, and dent the sides to make room for 2 of the nuts that can't quite fit on. I estimate at least 5 more hours in it for the both of us, which will put it at about 20 man hours... in addition, there is well over 300 dollars worth of materials in it, and that is at Beau's cost. Retail on this pipe if it were ever to be made would be about 800+ bucks uncoated.

I feel more than privileged to have gotten this oppourtunity to work with such a gifted individual, he really kicked some serious ass on this project, and he was amazing at how precise and exact he was with every aspect of what we did (not to mention he did it all first try without having to backtrack). We ran into minimal snags considering what we were doing... it is seriously an amazingly tight fit as the pictures will clearly show. The A/C compressor, IC piping, oil pan, and transmission all came into play a lot more with the 3" piping, and it amazes me that it even fit at all.

This truely is a work of art guys, I can't wait to get everything put back together and get this thing on the road to see what kind of gains will be had over the stock S-pipe and magnus J-pipe... the magnus J-pipe never goes over 2.5", and I measured one point on the stock S-pipe that was 1.25". I am expecting some big gains at 12psi up top and even better spool up time.

Pics o' plenty coming shortly of the MSP holy grail.:)

Now MAM just needs to make a 3'' turboback MSP exhaust system...(Hint Hint) :)

Waiting for pics

Will This Dp Just Replace The Stock Dp Or Will It Be Able To Fit The Sleeper Or Thumper Turbo Kits Also?

Awaits MAM's price.......(ughdance)

Sounds like this is a custom part, that takes many hours to fabricate. This was done as a custom job for Rich.... I don't know if they are thinking about selling them. It would be expensive, that is for sure.

what is the difference between this and say the GHL?
I guess pics will tell the story.

I think the GHL kinda has 2, 1.25" pipes that meet to form 1, 3" pipe. At least something like that. I am guessing, in total, the two smaller pipes have a smaller cross-sectional area than one larger pipe.

You would think that you would be spending the time on the dp that the coater stole from MAM first....

WTF? Go read that thread before spouting off like that. We have some pipes done that need to be test fit, and I don't have a stock midpipe here to test it. We sent one off to mallard and he is testing it out for us for fitment. Geez man, totally uncalled for.

The 3" Beau built for me MIGHT be a production piece. The cost of material and time to built it is what Beau is worried about.
He said if it was to be a production piece it would cost $700 for it.
