Tripoint engineering releases Mp3 turbo kit

turbo kit for mp3 on sale

hey guys i'm new here, love this board. i'm a proud mp3 owner from canada and love to see others with the same apreciation for this great car. anyway, now to the reason you checked out this thread. if you go to protegetech web site they have a link there to TRIPOINT which is now selling a turbo kit for our cars for $3800. it's an intercooled system claiming to give you 210 hp at the crank. this is great to see, the aftermarket seems to be slowly migrating to our car. i love it. now i have to go figure out where to get $3800.:D

I just fell in love:)

You guys are aware that knightturbos.com sells a turbo kit for the 2.0 motor. you can get all the plumbing less turbo and a few other things for 1200 or everything for like 2800 I think.

Quality is the issue here!
Knight turbos quality has scored major negative points in this board. you cannot compare Tripoint Engineering with Knight Turbos. It would be an insult to Tripoint.

Knight Turbo sells a turbo kit for the probe engine. It just happends to fit our engines after alot of modifications.

Tripoint made this Kit exclusively for our 2.0 liter engine...

hmm thats odd when I talked to him he said it was for the mazda 2.0. I'm not arguing Tri points quality I was just stating that there was another one that I had seen.

But don't take my word for it.
check it out for yourself!
The following thread was posted a while back in this forum. It states the experience of one of the members with the Knight Turbo Kit.

Tripoint engineering releases MP3 turbo kit for around $3800, and that they reached a 67+gain of Hp at the wheels right around 210hp at max 5200rpms and over 200 foot pounds of torque at 4000rpms at 400+pounds of torque. go to www.protegetech.com:eek:

400+ ft/lbs of torque. Is that possible for our cars with what they will offer? Can you imagine the acceleration of that thing if it is true?

208.7 lbs/ft -> 413 lbs/ft torque???

Don't mp3's have 142 lbs/ft of torque? Where did they get 208.7 from? And is it even possible to get 413 lbs/ft of torque off of a 2.0 liter engine @ 8 psi?? Maybe im just not getting something....

I've seen those figures on protege tech and they posted a 165 whp and 405 ft lbs of torque....now personally i think their dyno is screwed up...the HP is about right on but the torque is not right...that much torque would probably snak our axles like twigs.

I think they are not using the conventional way to measure torque.

Just look at the initial torque reading! it's 200+

DAMN

That's a hell of a lot of money for that kit, I don't care who's making it.

I'm sure the veteran guys on this board can back me on this one, if you had $4K to spend, what would you be able to buy as far as turbo items go for lets say... an eclipse, or a civic for that matter?
