I have a 2007 3, 2.3L, manual transmission, 70k miles. I haven't had any issues with it, and it seems to be working fine, but I'm a little worried at something I discovered today, and I can't find anyone having the same issue. When I'm in third gear, and I push the shifter left, it sorta "clicks" into the first gear position. It doesn't actually go into first gear, but it's clearly in first gear's position. I can "click" it back to third without any issues. The same happens with fourth to second, but reverse direction (first to third, second to fourth) does not work. Also, if I put it in fourth, then "click" it over to second gear's position, and then put it in neutral, if I try to go to second gear it goes to fourth gear.
I'm not even sure if this is an issue, but the paranoid side of me is freaking out about this. Has anyone run into a similar occurrence?
