so first my 4th gear and fith gear went out and had to have them and there shift forks replaced . well 2500 dollars later and 1000 miles later my 3rd gear goes out and they did not warrenty broken gears and anything that they didnt replace. so my question is what should i buy to repair this and should i try to do it myself or not? should i buy straight cut gears from PAR or just replace OEM ones and do a complete rebuild while im in there. any and all opinions are welcome and appreciated

Did they replace any other parts like the synchros or only the shift fork? The gear itself may not be broken, see if they will at least cut you a break on labor. I would expect them to warranty their work. I think you would be fine with an OEM gearset unless you intend to push over 250hp or so.

based on his mods, depending if its stock turbo or upgraded. he may be near that 250whp limit. a lot of guys go with a GTX 3rd and 5th gearset. ALLEGEDLY stronger gears than the stock ones. PAR gears are good to have if you plan on making A LOT of power like 350+ WHP. other than that. stock or GTX gears would be advised

Sorry to sound like a noob but where can I find the gtx gears because I've been searching for the past couple days and I've only seen what crossover auto has to offer

I don't know of many places that sell them, I would just go through Sam at crossover or get an OEM gear set. PAR are expensive and you likely won't need them depending on your plans for the future, if you never want to change from the AFC and run higher than 16psi a GTX/OEM gearset combo should suit you fine.

GTX gears aren't made anymore AFAIK the only place you'd get them is out of a 323/Familia GTX.

Also running an oil cooler will help :)

A manual trans oil cooler? (didn't know that existed) Or an additional engine oil cooler?

So even after a complete transmission rebuild with oem parts it does not feel silky smooth like I thought it would . Is there anything else that might make the shifting less than perfect? I did a new stage 3 clutch kit as well

You can switch to a thicker gear oil, that usually makes the trans feel smoother. If everything is installed correctly and your shifter/bushings are in good shape the trans should feel nice.

Ok so right now I've got 75w90 in it. Should I try 75w140? Or even 80 90? And also can I or should I put limited slip additive in it?

Curious about trans oil myself.. i put 75-90 in when i took it apart as i did last time i changed the clutch.. have to say.. despite the exploded bearing in there, you couldn't tell any other damage to the trans. the gearsets and synchros looked brand spanking new at 130km.
ive been on royal purple since 84km so serious plug for that stuff. are there any benefits to heavier gear oil other than being potentially smoother operating? mine shifts very easily just by hand on the bench, takes no effort in the car.

Always use 75W-90 and get a synthetic blend so it has some additives already in it. No need to add extra friction modifier.

I have yet to install my CS bronze oil bushings but the current ones definitely have some play but it still seems like there's too much resistance to push it into gear. I have a stock 92 civic hatch with over 270000 on the motor and tranny and that thing shifts smoother
