Transmission engages slowly into D (not until warm). All other gears ok?

Good afternoon 2002 P5 175,000 miles. Sport Shift auto.

Transmission: Park, Reverse Neutral all seem to work ok.

When the car is cold and placed into D....

Car will not shift fully into D until warm. Rarely slips while in D. Most of the time shifts ok.

Might this be a transmission on its way out? Or Just a simple fluid and filter change. Thanks!

On Rare occasion is goes into limp mode and get the blinking AT light on. A simple car turn off and back on will go back to normal.

Maybe neutral safety switch gets stuck? But that usually throws a code.

Check the adjustment of your shifter cable and your TR switch.

Brent, my '02 P5 135K miles AT is starting to do this too! Bought it earlier this year and drained the fluid in Jan and again in Aug. For the last month, it's been slow (by a few seconds) to get into Drive. No codes at all and after warmed up, it's fine, but from a cold start...revs like in neutral for a few seconds. Any resolutions on your issues?
