Trading in the MSP?

:
08 CX-7
Anyone had any luck getting the fair value for their MSP from the dealer. Like others I've had dealers say that my car is only an ES and they offer me 10,000 for the car. Any Southern California experiences?

Did a search and couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Mike

You'll NEVER get a trade-in that's worth near what you can sell it for, especialy for a small car like ours.

Trade-ins are nothing. Selling price is nothing. What matters is the combination of the two (Example: Dealer: "I'll give you $20k trade-in for your MSP if you'll buy my Aztek (or GTO, since they're so slow moving) for sticker". With all the incentives on the Aztek/GTO in the dealer's pocket it's like giving you $10k for the MSP and a decent deal on the Aztek/GTO.

nah, if they thought it was an ES, they'd offer you 5k

ya but I had the dealer down to just a hair under 24 on the goat and still got 14k out of em for the trade. But alas I'm married and the whole "wife" factor pissed on my parade lol

I squeezed 14k out of a pontiac dealer when I was looking at GTO's

thats because they need to get rid of those slow selling GTOs at any cost

working at the dealer i can tell you that 13k is about as high as you will see for a decent msp

Yeah trade in figures at a dealer are rediculous. Try selling it yourself and you may be able to squeeze out more from what the dealer offers. Although its best to have low miles and the car be in pretty good shape. Have "The Apprentice" show sell your car in a challenge. See which team can get you more money for it;)

Why do people love trading in there car so soon

Bottom line is the dealer always wins! ALWAYS. no matter how great the offer is do you know that your 1st few years of payments are paying off the interest and not the car. So usually the dealer loves it when you trade it in because the banks are happy! Sriously any dealer will love to get a trade in.

I could never suck up the lost so I rather pay my car off fully and then see what happens. I know its low interest rates but when you add it up on a $17K car you are saving.

I beg to differ. I was thinking about trading in my msp 4 months after i bought it for an STI. The dealer offered me 16,000 for the car(May 04) I only paid 14995. This was before we started to negotiate the price of the STI
