Trading in the msp....check out what the mazda manager said.

Uhm, thats what i'm trying to say. I want to sell it. Since i don't want to just throw thousands of dollars i'm kinda stuck with this car.

Its easy to just say, sell the car or buy another car. If i was rich, that'll be easy but taking a 5k hit on something i bought just couple months ago is just too much for me. I guess i'll be driving this car for bit longer.

I'm with Autox MSP on this one, Dexs comments were way out of line for a Moderator.

He is completely entitled to his opinion on this without being attack by the staff for it. He said nothing to provoke this response.

Once agian people complain about a 17,000 dollar car and compare it to a 28,000 to 30,000 dollar car . just shut up and realize that if you wanted a evo or wrx you should have bought it the first time ass muncher.

He realised this after buying so what is the big friggen deal?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, wait a year or so and then sell it. Look at the MP3's, there's a sspecial model protege that originally sold for $18,000 MSRP or thereabouts, and now has a blue book trade in of $10,500 and a private party value a little over $12,000 for one in excellent condition with about 24,000 miles on the clock. For those who bought their MSP early on and paid much closer to MSRP than they are going for now, they'd be losing a lot of money if they wanted to get rid of it, but for anyone buying one now for $16k-$17k, I'd say depreciation over the next few years is not going to be horrible.

You lose a lot of money on a first year trade-in no matter what, the only way to come close to breaking even is with a private party sale. I've been in your boat before, I sold a WRX wagon after only four months but because it was a private sale and I found a reasonable buyer I didn't get hurt too much on it. If you really want to get rid of it now, advertise it on autotrader.com or in your local paper. If you don't want to deal with it and you'd rather trade it in to a dealer, you're going to have to wait a while.

Maybe try carmax, they'll buy your car from you, and I've heard a few people have had reasonable results with them (better than dealer trade-in) but I doubt it's going to be anywhere near what you're expecting to get for it.

Here's something else to consider - if you're getting a new car at invoice, you're probably going to get financed for the MSRP of the car, if not about 10% more. If the amount you're upside down on your loan is less than the difference between invoice and MSRP on the car you're looking at, you can usually roll that into your new loan. It hurts you in the long run, but if you absolutely have to get out of the car you're driving, that's one way to do it.

sorry to hear you hate this car. Hope your next one is better. And it's good you won't be buying another mazda, easier for me to get a RX7 (j/k, j/k). It's sad to hear you go though. Good luck on your sell.

Damn you people can be harsh. Lighten up a little.

You never really know a car until you have driven it for a while. A ten minute test drive ain't gonna tell you s***. To be honest my P5 is not what I expected. I like it but the handling sux compared to my Focus and I actually find myself missing my Focus now. The way I could throw it into any twist and turn and not have to worry about letting up. But I couldn't tell that in a test drive. It took driving it for a few weeks on all the roads I'm used to driving. The power is a little under what I expected too. I know it isn't going to be fast, but this thing has no get up and go. Again I neede to have it to myself and try different styles of driving to tell that. But unfortunantly I am locked in for a few years so I guess I'll just make the best of it.

Oh and Autox MSP: You gotta see it from the dealers side. The used car market sux right now because of all the rebates and incentives on new cars. They can't move them. Thank Chevy for starting the ball rolling on that.

No s*** - I hate it when a bunch of people on here fly off the handle when somebody complains about their car. And the fact that 2 moderators did it makes it even worse. News flash - it doesn't matter if you hate his whining about the car because he has every right to post his complaints on here if he so chooses! If you don't like listening to the complaining, too F-ing bad. I could say I hate all "Hi, I'm a newb" threads but guess what, that doesn't give me the right to jump down their throat.

Good luck selling the MSP Autox - I'd wait until spring for a better price like 1st said. If you end up selling, let us know how much you end up getting.

I disagree I test drove and took out some of my friends cars and you can get a good feel for cars pretty easily. After test driving the Evo I walked away very dissapointed, Taking my friends RSX-S out I liked the the sound of when the V-TEC kicking in and that was about it. Took a SRT-4 out walked away dissapointed. The whole point of a test drive is to get a basic feel of the car your not going to understand its limits afterwards but you can get a good feel overall. After spending 15 mins in a Evo I walked away with enough complaints that I was not intrested in the car at all afterwards. The shifter is knotchy just like the MSP, the Brake "feel" is mushy, the turbo lag is enough to steal some excitment from the car. Its not a bad car in anyway theres just some things I didnt like about the car just like AutoX is saying about the MSP, only difference is that I didnt spend 30K to figure these out. The question is what cars dont have their short comings. You gotta roll with the punches sometimes.

20.500 MSRP

Good luck with the selling of your car. My friend is a salesman and in response to a "mazda" manager saying they aren't worth anything is prob made up. They say alot to "depriciate" your car. You just gotta hold your ground.

The reason it's not a good idea to trade the speed in is because if you go by the books there is no designation for 'Mazdaspeed'. It is considered a regular protege :bs: wich sux i know. I knew about that when i bought it and it will prob take a hit when the 3 comes out, so you most def want to sell it privately and get more $$$$ for it.

This sux cause the friggin Z06 has a separate designation!! Maybe the Mazdaspeed brand is still too new. again good luck and it sux that it has put you off from Mazda's. They make a great car.

You know what is funny about this lol. I also went to the dodge dealer in scottsdale arizona today to find out how i could get an SRT-4 out of curiosity and they only wanted to give me 10k for it and my car is in mint condition. I would never buy a SRT-4 because of it looking so cheap but geeze lol noone wants the speedcar. Not even the owners that have them it sounds like. I am going to wait till spring 2004 to start the necessary steps on getting my STi . That is what i should of bought but i was impulsive and couldnt get a 30,000 dollar loan at the time. Now i can. Dont get me wrong. I like my car but i have had problem after problem with it and its rediculous.

hehe I bought my car at the Cleveland Auto show back in Feb so I might have paid a little much for it dont ya think? depreciate 10 grand in friggin 9 months on trade in. Rediculous. BTW My salesman called it a "speedcar"

Probably because he forgot they were called Mazdaspeed and had to make something up on the fly so he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

^^ of course, what's not to like??...

ps "your crazy your crazy man" reminded me of Old School, when Will Farrell got shot in the neck with the tranq gun! That is exactly what he says! (maybe you were trying to say that i dunno)...
