Track Day MSP Build

so what did you decide on the brakes ?
what brake fluid you plan on using too ?

have you thought about BREMBO kit for MS6/MS3, I think they'll fit on MSP's as well and they cost around $1400 too.

I'm going to use MS6 rotors and Wilwood Superlite calipers. The MS6 calipers are twice as much than the Wilwoods and have less pad choices. I've been using Motul RBF600 for 5+yrs with no issues.

awesome thread dude. I'm also prepping the car for the track this year. Some valuable info here.

What are you planning to do?

I made some much needed progress on my coilovers today. Made the swaybar reinforcement brackets and a few of the mounts for the spring collars. There's a time trials event in March I plan to shake down the Koni setup at.

Doc B pump and oil system
brakes (nothing big just good rotors, pads, lines and fluid)
finish boxing in my rear trailing arms
wrx harness bar

few more things as well.. my main concern is motor life right now.

March? hah glad you can get out so soon, still be snow here.

pics of the coilovers! lots of pics as you progress please haha

I'll have pictures soon. Just haven't made much progress as I've been busy with shaking a customer car down for this season along with the usual work load of cars.

I'm probably going to skip the March event so I can make sure I have the suspension 100%. I really want to finish the rear control arms with the coilovers.

Here's a picture of the current 235 vs 255 tires. I plan to run the 255s on a 9" wheel, but they are mounted on a 8" in the picture.

Just the fronts, it'd take most of the session to get heat into the rears if I ran any more rubber!

Welded the reinforcement brackets to the struts tonight. Need to weld the spring collar locations, get the bodies threaded for the gland nuts and then they can get powder coated!

*** brand. Seems to hold up well so far. When I spring for new hubs I'll use the Mazda bearings.

I haven't been able to find any hubs I'd really trust. I'm going to stick with OEM Mazda. The fronts are $250 a pop last time I checked!

you going through the dealer, or Mazda Motorsports?

My business wholesale account. I need to verify that price with the other dealer we buy from.

Took the car out to the track yesterday. I pulled the camber plates off the car to modify them for the Konis so the front has stock camber. Did absolutely ZERO prep to the car aside from welding a crack in one of my wheels and throwing on some old RA1s.

The track is super bumpy and had water in the middle of the worst corners. Unlike the other local track, there's not much run-off room so the water made everyone's times increase by quite a bit since we had to slowly slide through it. All in all a great day. Killed the tires and the 1 event old brakes! This track has a 2000ft straight a long with a few other long 4th gear ones that all end in abrupt turns. Brakes ducts will be needed next time we go back.

Pictures coming as soon as they get emailed to me!
