Track Day MSP Build

I thought so. I'm really liking the progress you've made! I'll may be following in similar footsteps soon. Gonna be doin me some track days.

Where? I WISH we had more available tracks in SOFLA but the closest one is PBIR. How much usually are fees to run the road course.

More important question...any issues with oil starvation? What oil pan you running? How many quarts?

I'm gonna try and do N.A.S.A stuff at PBIR and Homestead. PBIR is 20 minutes from me. Homestead is the real long haul.

N.A.S.A stuff usually is around $2-300 to start? That's for hpde with an instructor (An instructor is required for your first time with no passing). Then you can move up to passing exercises, open track stuff with unlimited passing and I think do time trial, etc.... I haven't looked at their site in a while so I dont know the exact rates and rules blah blah.... lol

*edit* And there's the Central FL Road Course that's supposed to be a really good drive and cheaper to get into.

We have more tracks then just PBIR, you are within 2 hours of Sebring and Homestead. I just got back last weekend from a track day Sebring with Chin, there is a group called ERME, (http://www.erme.us) that has a track day scheduled in November at Homestead. I might be instructing at that event.

These events usually around $300 with instructor, and you can get up to 3 hours of time on track, plus 2 hours of classroom instruction.

I have been considering doing some track events with my turbo p5. I have done a few small events, but some of my buddies that work for NASA tell me they have seen some people racing these cars and having oiling problems?? He was saying some of the people were complaining of a poorly baffled oil pan, and were developing rod knock out on course.

SO I am now eluding to my question..... Have you experienced any of these issues? Any at all?

I <3 your Koni's btw. Looks like you having a blast out on track.

Is the engine overall stock except for the intake manifold?

AWR oil pan bro. built for this issue.

Hmm AWR oil pan sounds nice but cha ching$. I was curious of his findings though since hes dedicated his msp to track events.

Maybe in the future though, who knows.

it's like 250.00 or something but yea, he can chime in. it's just a race proven part!

Oh thats not bad at all really, when you put a price on the life of your engine. lol

The AWR oil pan is well worth the cost. Not only for the baffling, but also for the added oil capacity. More oil gives protection against heat for long track sessions.

I don't have a way to monitor oil pressure and I haven't been doing any oil tests after events so I really don't know how the bearings are doing. The motor has 98K and a fair amount of track time. It doesn't use oil or smoke. There aren't too many corners at the local tracks that the motor sits at sustained high rpms... I'm sure that helps. Plus sessions typically don't last more than 25min.

Whenever I build a new motor it'll have an AWR pan. And probably a modified oil pump from Tom Bork.

I haven't installed the ported intake manifold yet. The main engine upgrades are a front mount intercooler, 3" exhaust and Split Second AFC.

Well not much progress is being made... with the holidays around the corner, my car projects have slowed down. There is an event coming up in a few weeks but I may skip it in order to focus on getting the new shocks and hood finished. Its also time to buy brakes again, so the switch to MS6 fronts is tempting. I will update the first post with pictures this week.
