Tore up another tranny!

Been on vacation for a month, but I am back. Anyway, just before I went on vacation in December I tore up another tranny in the P5. Got on it in second gear, shifted to third and thats where it has been stuck ever since. This will be the third tranny going in. So the car is going back to stock, and the tired supercharger is coming out of the Miata and the T3T4 is going in it. Getting ready to build the bottom end, got the Link ordered, manifold ordered, and I am taking a welding course so I can do my own intercooler pipes.

I will be selling a couple of items such as downpipe with Greddy EVO exhaust, Axles (good for 500 horsepower), 2 Konig trafficks with BF Goodrich Drag radials (3 1/8 mile runs), turbo manifold with ceramic coating, and some Nordskog digital gauges.

I'll let you guys know how the Miata turns out, but for the FI P5, its done with.:(

Sucks big time. . .sorry to hear it.

I wonder if your exhaust will fit a "normal" T3 spool kit?

And what are you selling the axles for?

some of it, i made a engine brace, the engine doesn't move at all but the tranny still moves a bit, so im going to have to get under the car and make a custom tranny brace, hopefully that will remedy the vibration, the thing is, when im WOT it doenst do it lol, so i just think i have to keep the tranny still and it will be ok..man this sux that your de-turboin the p5!!

The issue was the driver!!

I havent broken mine yet, I learned on this car, blew engine once with overboost and still my transmission is doing well. Daily driven, daily beaten...

Too bad...but at least you will be boosting another car.
 
he is also pushing more hp then you are on d/r's = more stress on the tranny, but yes, i want to see the miata when you are done with it =)

Expecting this result is exactly why i gave up when I did.
 
Damn that sucks! Good luck with the miata! I want to turbo my wifes miata too but she don't want me too......

yeah, do it, set it to 3psi so she doesnt get scared, then maybe she will get used to it and ask for a few more psi. ;)
 
And then you see Terry running 18-19psi with stock internals and no tranny problems whatsoever. AND he was running 10psi for a year before that. I think people just need to go a bit easier on these trannies.

thats what Im talking about
here are some running 12-15psi, blowing engines, but not transmissions.

our transmissions fail due to abuse, mis-shifts, stressing syncros, etc. not power...

if you are pushing 250+ whp you will need to gently put every gear, let it syncronize and NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH.
 
You guys keep forgetting that I run drag tires on this vehicle. Before the tranny problems I was snapping axles, but now with the chrome moly axles, the tranny can't keep up. Street use on street tires may be fine due to the lack of adhesion in the street tires, but for TRUE drag applications, our trannys are no good. I'm not saying the immediatly break, but give it time, it will break.

Yes, you can pamper a car down the dragstrip, but what is the use of that if you are drag racing? I dont miss shifts, and damn right I dump the clutch, thats racing!
 
Well there you have it then :). You could just get a decent tranny and be done with it, I suppose. But for my plans, I just want a little more power!

Gotzoom, sounds like you broke your shift fork from a hard shift...
What do you think?
What piping diameter is the Greddy Evo exhaust? BTW, you know I'm interested in those axles that should have been mine in the first place!! ;)
