#*&$^%#$ Today

Bad gas wouldn't cause misfiring. I filled up with some bad premium at a place I shouldn't have. I realised this when I tried to race a Mitsu SUV of some sort and the power just wasn't there. After further analysis I realised the power loos took place after 4500 RPM, it was fine until then. I realised this was the same thing that happened to the MS6 guys with low octane gas. The computer dumps boost at high RPM. I ran the tank down to 1/4 and then filled up with Shell V-power and problem solved. Everything went back to normal. But there was no misfiring, just power loss at high RPM. So unless there is actually water in the gas or something it's not the gas causing the misfire.

New pump. got off the phone.

im so happy i made him take the car last night, after he said it was ok, AGAIN. it died on him twice. oince lsat nite, and again this morn.

I said o, did u order me a new fule pump? he laughed and asked how i knew. Coming in soon. All is well

Just a little info - he said this has been happening with cold weather and before the car warms up (water in the gas/freezes etc etc) so be careful if ur in cold weather, make sure ur car is warm and i hope all goes well.

make sure they update your engine and transmission module flash, the new one fixes any other hessitation issues

I wil lbe going on 2 to 3 weeks or more, without my car, due to this problem. Mazda doesnt have a single part in stock. I have an expected ship date on a pump that doest exist for 2/27. Awesome.

Sounds like either fuel pump or fuel injector problems to me.

As stated, bad gas may cause pinging cause the engine to dump boost to prevent this and thus a major loss of power.

Just because you used the Vpower pump does not insure the gas in it was 92 octane. The actual octane of a pump may vary due to what or how they fill their tanks. Also water in you fuel can cause a misfire as will a bad O2 sensor.

Wasnt the gas, and never WAS the gas. I had the dealer purge my tank and go drive it to their shell station and put in VPower, not only was my car worse but the mechanic finalllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy came to the conclusion that it wasnt the gas, like i had been saying all along.

Problem is the fuel pump.

The catch with the purge and the fill is that Mazda, before even remotely accepting fault with the fuel pump, engine, injectors etc etc. right off the bat claims bad gas. I took that as an insult and insuation from my dealer trying to say i was el cheapo with my gas. My car has 5k miles on it and has now been in the shop on 5 seperate occasions, always to their dealer, i always pay them, and i am loyal. So if they wana say bad gas they can go screw.

So, back to my story - IF I HAD picked the car up the 2nd time my tech told me it was ok, It would have been my fault again, and be blamed on bad gas, and this stupid charade would have continued. I actually dont care that they have had my car for so long, as long as its fixed when i pick it up. But i was not going to go along with this game of Hey ur cars ok! come pick it up! then 1 minute out of hte parking lot have it die on a highway and flatbed it back. I did that twice in 1 day, im all set for life now.

this thing better be fixed is all im saying. I know what gas can do if ur engine is rated for premium and u put in regular, but please gas is gas and doesnt cause unbelievable problems like computers turning the car off, bucking, misfiring, and basically an undriveable car. Maybe if u put water in the tank (which is what has happened cuz of the bad fuel pump) but not a 93 grade gas.

This wasnt a "dumping boost" this was an automatic SHUT DOWN it was like riding a buckin bull or something it was crazy what was goin on in my car
(o quick tip - if you want to clean the carbon out of the engine, put the car in park, keep the tach steady at 4rpm's and when the tach drops back down, the car has cycled whatever carbon it can out of the engine - tech tip from mazda)

Dude some people here might flame me for saying this. But if in fact it's a mechanical defect don't put your life or others at risk while on the road by driving a car that is not performing correctly.

Driving on highways and the car just shuts off hell I been there before you know where it led me?? Straight into a Cablevisions Fiber Optic Pole wrecked the car I had, hurt myself and the cable co ended up taking me to court in order for me to compensate there loss of renevue and credit to there customers.

LEMON LAW

no kidding bro. scared the life outta me. I would never, ever drive my car if there was something wrong with it, and im talking even if like there was a tire leaking air. I took the tech's word for it, and why shouldnt I? They serviced my car, said pick it up, and BAM.

Little update. Part came in yesterday and was installed. something just doesnt sound right. Fixed on monday. Kept the car with the working new fuel pump for 2 days thru today. I had to call the tech TODAY when he was supposed to call yesterday, and hes saying how he wants to keep the car for another additional day.

I know I want this fixed and im in no rush to get this thing back, but something just doesnt sound right to me right now.

don't forget this is a turbo'd car, this sound familiar to when the intercooler clamps used to come lose on the msp. That is a little harder for it to happen with the disi/top mount though.

good luck, raise hell.

car back. seems fine. runs better with the hesitation update. they detailed my car and left a nice 1 inch scratch on the passenger left door. my front passenger window will not go down from the drivers side buttons. awesome.

Mikey,

You just have to reset the windows.

Get in the car (not running).
Turn it on.
Lower the passenger side (using passenger side control) all the way. Roll in back up and hold for 3 seconds.
Do the same on the drivers side.
Do the same FROM the drivers side doing both buttons at the same time (passenger & driver).

Should be fixed :)

Mikey, I had a problem with my passenger window, too, after they installed my Sirius. I didn't know about the process Rabbit explained. When I realized that the driver's side control was not moving the passenger window, I tested the button on the passenger's door. It went down all the way. I lifted it back from the passenger's control, then tested it from the driver's side and it worked fine. Still does.

thanks guys, yea, i reset the windows and fixed it, but u know something after my car has been there goin on its 3rd week, be more thorough u know when u reset the system and battery u need to check those things, it just does not add to a positive experience. add the scratch, i may not go back there for service, i will keep it at a Mazda dealer 100% but right now im just aggrevated with these people.

I understand your aggravation.
My dealer seems ok, but when I asked about the PCM, he said that the PCM never was updated... Im thinking about bringing in the bulletin on my next visit.
