Man how long would my tires last right now.
20K is pretty good for 140 tread wear. I am at around 30k now with the original set and they will need to changed in a couple months. I rotated every 10k or so on mine. I drive just over a 100 miles a day during the week. My tread is still at about 20-30% but it has mostly been highway miles driving at 60 in a straight line.Black Majik MSP said:OMG! Of course you have a problem...you are supposed to rotate them every 5k miles. From what I've heard, these tires can sometimes only last 20k miles because they're aggressive summer tires & the tread rating is like 140. If you go really easy on them, they might last another month...if the wire is showing, then I wouldn't chance it.
I agree. Get one used tire and save up for two new ones. A lot of people have already mentioned the safety factor and that could be terrible. But if you don't think that will happen to you, fine. But if you do have a blow out and nobody gets hurt, think about how much a new rim will cost you (uhm) Not cheap I imagine.GotBoost said:there is no telling how long they will last, but if you have steel showing it is a danger to you and the others on the road. if you can't afford new tires yet. goto a used tire store get a $20 used tire put on that rim, make sure it's on the back and save for your new tires
Give him SOME credit dexter, im sure they'll last at least 72.9 seconds as long as he swerves alot and tries not to hit a pothole.Dexter said:your tires will last 38.32 seconds
dont forget the 2 autox's man, that had to be mad wearMikeyK 5 said:I'm glad I saw this thread's comments on the wear rate of the RE040's. I Rotated my front's @ 7K and was shocked to see them around 40% tread remaining. I drive pretty hard, but I didn't think it should have been that bad. After I wear down the new fronts, then swap 'em back, then swap back and forth one more time, i'll probably be around 20-22k for the set, which sounds like its not too abnormal.
Not too mention the fact that I currently have the P5 Wheels and Dunlops on right now, for the winter (grumble grumble stupid me driving in 1/2 inch of snow on the RE040s).
