Tires: Go with 195/50/16 or 205/50/16

That said, the tread design and composition will make a larger difference than the tire width. Economy tires use hard rubber. Sticky performance tires use soft rubber. The gforce sports on my car are pretty sticky. But I'm still getting about the same mpg as I got on stock tires after the correction. Go figure.
Carrying speed through corners saves gas (glare)

I seriously don't get why everyone is thinking it twice over 2 mpg.The P5 or just the Protege in general gets great gas milage stock .I mean I'm sure u guys have the basic intake/header/exhaust.So I think those three would cover those 2 mpg lost by 205/45.I'm planning on upgrading to that size so I think it should be fine.

If I run Mazda 6 16" wheels, can I run a 205/60-16.....I'm looking to calm down my bouncy Eibachs......I mean will they rub anywhere on a lowered P5?

If so, What size would be the best size for the most sidewall I can have?

Please help guys.

you need new shocks if your too bouncy

Nah, I'm riding on about 5000 mile old tokicos, the Eibachs are the lower race springs, and they are just too bouncy for me. I have Coilovers on my Neon, and it's night and day.

which tokicos and which eibachs? You mean that the ride is too rough, or you're literally bouncing around (multiple compression and rebound strokes over a bump).

Sportlines, and the Tokico Blues, the ride is just a little rough, the car only has one bound, and rebound per bump, but it is just way rougher than the coilovers on my Neon.

Have had my 205/50's on for a week now and haven't noticed any significant changes. Rides better but then again my Toyos up front were just about shot. I do love the stance now with the 205's.

I've got over 80,000 miles on my 03 P5 (love it) and have gone back and forth between 195/50/16 and 205/50/16 on stock rims. The 205's def look better in the wheel well, fill it out better. I've not noticed any MPG difference, but I don't get anal over MPG anyway I just fill it with Chevron and drive.

The comfiest riding one was no doubt the 205/50/16 Pirelli PZero Nero's though.

Had:

Stock Dunlops
Pirellis
Avon M500 summers
Kunho SPT summers presently. Like 'em.

I've got 205-55-16 on stock rims, no rubbing.

You'd have to check the offset on those 6 rims. I think 6's use a 60mm offset, you might rub the strut with a big tire like a 205-60. The 17's rub badly, but they're a 215-50-17. They hit the spring support on the strut in the rear.

Hi my brother just got a mazda protege 5 and was wondering if 205-55-16 would fit on it cause the low profile are just to much and hard to find . i know the 205-55-16 are a lot cheaper is why he wants it .. prob is i dont know if it would rub against the spring or affect the abs breaks like some people mentioned at tire shops.. any help would be greatly appreciated

how would that affect the ABS? Anyway, ya, they'll fit. I used to run them when I raced the Pfizzle
