Ok guys heres the deal...I just got off the horn with GTFabrications...for you dsm fans, these are the guys who do the major fabricating for Road Race Engineers, best guys in the market. At any rate they're willing to design a DP for significantly less that the current companies, how much less depends on demand. I need a few things though before we can proceed. A. I have a few questions for design. Do we want it turbo back, o2 back, what sizes and materials. My preliminary suggestion was a turbo back unit with an o2 bung made out of stainless in either 2.5 or 4". I also suggested having a 3 inch section of wire flex being as that we have crappy motor mounts but it can be solid if the majority prefers. B. I need a test dummy, err i mean subject for the final fitting. The shop is located in Buena Park, Ca.. The sooner I get responses from the msp community the sooner the project can get under way. From developement to finish he estimates will take within a month. Obviously if he has to make 100 its going to take a little longer. I've used these guys as well as RRE for numerous exhaust projects on my DSMs and I am always happy with the finished product. Now as far as what I get out of it? Nothing not a thing, just the satisfaction of putting it to the dink companies who are charging a fortune for something that is easy to make. Well and the fact I'll be the first one off the group buy to get mine..hehe...

i say turbo back 2.5, not sure about the flex, and i would subject my car for testing BUT i'm in florida, sorry wither way you should start a poll for the diameter and turboback/02back. and yes. make it less expensive, i'd consider it.

not the full exhuast...im asusmin its from the turbo to the crossmember where normal cat-backs start

as long as it ends at a stock flange location ... even better

I would only be interested if their price is for a true turboback and undercuts everyone else severely. A 3" unit would be the most beneficial for autocrossers who can't up their boost and a built high flow would be icing on the cake.

this is for the DP to the xmember section only...I'm sure they could build a whole exhaust, but this thread and susequent GB is for the DP only...the numbers Im hearing are 170-240 depending on demand...the cheapest I've been able to find thus far is 280 from Apex...and CS keeps promising one for 170ish but 4 months later and I've still yet to see the finished product...dont get me wrong I know they have a million things going on at CS but if this guy can do it for the same ballpark then let him take on the burden and get us a cheap DP...

i'm very interested once product is ready i'll buy, and i can donate the car:) for awhile i'll drive to wherever i'm just outside tampa, i have boost controller...minor mods

If this guy can build a 3" turbo back downpipe that replaces the s pipe with something similar to the ion tb exhaust's downpipe (wastegate seperated for a few inches with merge collector) then i would definently be in. high flow cat would be nice too since i have to put up with echeck here in ohio. if he can make something like that for about the same as apex, hell even $100 or so more, and it doesnt throw CELs, then id be the second on the GB! keep us posted.

FYI, if you read turbo magazines article on ion's tb, you have to take off a lot of stuff just to have it on. Im not bashing ion's products its that im not willing to take off everything to install it. are u? anyways im interesting, just keep the same design as apex.

yeah keep it easy to remove and replace for us who have to put the stock section back on for emissions. I would really like a downpipe but they are to expensive. 2.5 in is fine with me. with the prices where they are right now it is cheaper to get a muffler shop to cut out the stock cats and replace when needed.

If they will make a 3in. downpipe then im in on the group buy. I wanna see some pics also.

How Long Will The Person Donating The Car Have To Leave Their Car There, And Do They Get A Free Dp? If So I Might Be Able To Depending On Lenght Of Time.

I would be down for a 2.5" turbo-back with High-flow cat and a flex section. If you make one like that, let me know. I could maybe do without the flex, but I would prefer it.

What you want to have made is this...A full 3 inch turbo back system with an 02 eliminator style sutup to replace the S pipe, have a midpipe made with flanges so it can easily be replaced with a cat for all the tree huggers.. sell the systems without a muffler or with the option of buying one, it sounds weird but it will sell more..Finish the system at the last bend goining over the rear geometry..Choice of stainless or aluminized would also be key..
02 elininator style setup would work very well and not be quite as expensive as seperating the wg from exhaust plus it would work well for t28 hybrid turbos that want to run external wg's down the road..
