Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had problems with the police in the New England area due to tint. I am getting my windows done today, and was wondering if there were any spots i should look out for, or any windows i should absolutely not tint.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Well i've had mine tinted for almost 2 years now, and i have never had any problems, i'm 99.99% sure mine are 35%'s which isnt too dark. I know baby chris was hasseled out by Weymouth with his tints but his were 5% or w/e the blackest of black tints you can buy. Good luck with the tint job. (hi)

do you also have your windshields tinted? if so how much and does it affect your driving at night?

I wouldn't bother doing the whole windshield. For one, it's way illegal, and it makes the car less safe to drive since you can't see :P

I have 30% film on the sides (meter says like 27% since the glass isn't perfectly optically clear) and 20% film on the back, and it's dark enough to look dark, but not dark enough to get yourself pulled over for it. It technically isn't legal in CT but I've never had an issue. I also never have had issues when I'm in NH for the summer.

Here's a chart showing what is lega in what state:

I got it done, 35% everywhere, none on the windshield. And limo black on the sunroof. The guy messed up the back right door so he has to redo it. Otherwise its pretty good. I took my power window fuses out so i wouldnt accidently roll down the windows. Any recommendations on how to care for it, especially over the next few days? the guy said i can push some small bubbles that may be left out with a credit card. Any other things to do, or look out for? thanks a bunch.

I just wanted to keep ocassional passerbys from peeking inside. And to get less glare on my computer screen.

I did the same thing with taking the fuse out. I did it to my mom and sister when they got tint done too because I knew they wouldn't be as anal as I am about doing things right.

Make sure whatever you use to clean your windows is safe for tint (thought I don't know how much it matters if it isn't dyed tint). I had a couple tiny bubbles in the back window but they went away after a week.

How much did it cost you for everything?

225, guy took three hours, ill probably go back monday or tuesday to get the rear door redone. He will do it for free, as expected.

He's had his Mazdaspeed Protege tinted at least twice that I know of, always going with dark (like maybe 10%). He's had to deal with the laws about removing it and stuff, so he probably would have some good info for this thread.

I had 20% on my black cougar and never had a problem. However, several of my friends have attempted 10% and gotten ticketed for it. You can take a chance with 10-20% but I'd just play it safe with 35% and maybe a little darker on the rear window.

credit card not the best idea. scratches better off going to auto zone and buying the right tool. and spray with soap water when you rub out the bubble
