Hey guys, was what engine I could swap out my 2.0L. I've read about the 1.8L and the 2.0L from the 626.

I was wandering though if I could swap it out with any of the newer MSP3 or 6 w/o having to change the transmission.

I don't believe the 3 or 6 engines will fit without a lot of modification, and you would need their transmissions. I dont know about 626 engines though...why not just get another fsde? Just not interested??

Seriously!?!?

He's just asking...(thumb)

2.0L 626 engines will swap over with minor modifications, they're just older FS-DE's but some don't have forged cranks so do a bit of research so you don't end up with an even weaker engine than the stocker.

Your best bet though would be to just get another engine from a 01-03 3rd gen Protege and swap over the windage tray and oil cooler. That's the only difference between the MSP and regular 2.0L Proteges, whereas the 626 FS-DE's have a few more differences that need to be addressed (crank sensor, valve cover, crank itself, coil packs, manifolds, etc.)

And you can forget about the 2.3L DISI engines from the 3/6, that's a whole different beast that would require way more effort and money than it's worth.

So rude people on this site.... But dude, I feel like mazda shoulda gave the MSP alil bit more power to the Motor and I have also wondered about that swap too.
