Hey! if your sporting a 00 protege es like me u know the e-brake really does jack, it hardly slows u down in foward or reverse. im looking to make the e-brake actually lock up my rear wheels. or at least hold them, its impossible to do a decent burnout with this car with the e-brake so weak, at parking lot car shows people are like nice car lets see what u can do, and really it ends thier, the breaks can hold 3000rpm launch and the tire spin is minimal. any suggestions?

It should be really called a Parking Brake, not an Emergency brake b/c it is so weak.

In stock form, it would really be hard to adjust it to do what you're asking and still retain some decent rear pad life.

I can suggest a manual brake bias setup [usually for racers], but if you don't know what you're doing and you hit the brakes, you'll either have next to no front brakes, or next to no rear brakes. Not recommended.

Plus why would you want to do a smoky burnout in a parking lot anyways?
You might break something, be in an accident, kill someone.....

To each their own I suppose....

yeah that bias brake setup dosnt sound like a good idea, my friends talked about a tranny lock, that could help, and the burnout in a parking lot is done under controlled conditions, we have less than a 1/4 mile straightaway and its wide, 1 person per time, u can do w/e u want and there are no poles or anything, it isnt a bad setup when u got nothin to do on a thursday night.

I have to say the breaks are really bad at locking up. I have auto so at times I try to break torque you know one foot on each petal to get the rpm's up. THe car actually over powers its breaks and starts to creap foward.

Theres a bolt on by the parking break that you can use to adjust the strenth of the ebrake. It should help alittle. Its just inside the ebrake cover to the ebrake on the drivers side. Alternativly maybe new shoes.

You can tighten it some. There is a screw to adjust the tension on the e-brake cable. Just pop the cover off and I think it is right there if I remember right. Just be careful not to tighten it so much that the brake is always on even when in the fully down position.

yeah im going to look for this screw tomorrow to see how well it helps, thanks for the tip. my car cant overpower the breaks. if i floor the breaks i can goto 3000rpm then my engine just stops going further, and a 3000rpm launch has a little tie spin to it, but im looking to do that then yank my e-brake up so i can lock the rearwheels and the tires still spin haha, im thinking a lil more ponies under the hood will help alot, so im looking into the OBX header and a cat-back exaust with a aem cai and some ngk spark plugs and spark plug wires.
