ticking noise solution

I have figured out what was making the ticking noise in my p5.
I don't know what the part does, other than make an anoying noise.

On the factory intake there is a gold part that has two hoses connected to it. well when i install my intake that part did not have a mounting point other than to strap it down to another hose. Well it was against my firewall and I guess its a pump of some kind and when it comes on it ticks.

If you hold the part while the engine is you can feel it and hear it moving (do this at your own risk).

Just to pass along the info

Oh yeah, What is the part????

HAAAAAAA!

HAAAAAAAA! I cant believe you found that part. (Well, of course they did Brook, if they put on an intake, you dipsh*t).
I had to replace that part, I broke it installing my CAI. Mazda calls it a solenoid (to order) but its actually a vacuum valve. there is an alternate place to mount that ON the engine block itself. You shouldnt be able to hear the ticking, there might be a problem, the valve could be stuck. If you ripped this thing off the car, it would still run, but poorly (believe me, I know). I'll look at my motor tonight and tell you where to mount it. If the ticking is that loud, you might want to take a look at it/replace it. BTW, it's $70 to order from Mazda.
