Hello and thanks in advance to any advice =]
I have a Mazda 03 Protege5 and it has started to cause some issues now at 65,000mi. I am experiencing a "thumping" noise when I am driving, primarily when turning either left or right. I took it to a shop and questioned to the mechanic that I think it is either the CV joint(s) or the wheel bearings. He says the CV joints look good, but did not cut the boots off to check. I think they are good too, but I am beginning to question it. He did however say that one of my wheel bearings (right front) was "loose" and he replaced it. It did not fix the problem.
My question is, Other than CV joints and wheel bearings, or uneven tire tread, what could cause the car to make a thumping noise while turning? My mechaninc want to take the axle down and look for the cause because he is stumped.
Thanks again for any help/advice. =]
