thinking of getting rid of the MSP

**** on, you get better results:D. lol. Lightening the mood a bit in here. I say, lay off guys, I mean yeah it is a little bit of a girly car, but then, so are alot of other cars some of you drive.lol. I will be one to say, if you go with the Miata, you will be happy, since YOU like it. ANd so long as you live in a somewhat warmer climate, as being cold suck. Also, to make it 'manly' get a hard top, and maybe some performance upgrades, rims springs wutever, and then blow the doors off people, you'll get respect then. Also, those cars can be fun as hell, handle like a go kart, use about as much gas as one, and can be drifted nicely. With a few looks improvements, and a little flip in the engine, you got yourself a great little AutoX queen, and a nice daily driver. And if it makes you happy, thats whats important d00d, now everyone else, lay off a bit man, there are several non-gay, non-women members on here with miatas...

Well I really can't afford 2 cars. I wish I could. I should have kept my P5. But woulda shoulda coulda, nothing I can do about that now.

Basically between my car and various other debt I feel like I have too much. I bet I don't have anymore than the average person. But it still makes me nervous that it's out there. There's two main reasons for me to get rid of the car.

1) My car payment is more than I'd like it to be
2) This car is an endless money pit
Won't you throw just as much money into the miata? especially used, another car is just a different money pit than the one you have now. Just don't spend on the msp, refinance it if the payments are killing you, and hang in there to get the principle paid off.

Why was the p5 a better situation than the msp? You dumped even more money in the p5....

All of the negative comments are obviously coming from people who have never really explored the possibilities of the platform. Modifications are plentiful, salvage parts are everywhere, the Spec Miata class is probably the most popular of all the SCCA events for amature racers. I can also promise that none of these people have driven a turbo miata (not the Mazdaspeed version...a real turbo Miata with 300hp). The BP motor is amazing and in all honesty I wish Mazda had used the BP for the 3rd gen Proteges. Heathen...you need to get out of the hottub more. The last drift competition in Charlotte was won by a Miata. A normally aspirated one at that.

if you do get a miata get a newer one, like a 00 or so, they have the same body parts as the MSP and can be easily made to look as good as one with the body kit and suspension. The headlights look better too instead of the older bug style pop ups. But i too have thought about getting a miata in the past, its just something about a little light ass car like that, it being a convertible and having the roll bars, and all the aftermarket goodies makes it a nice car. I love mazdaspeedgirl's 10th AE miata, that blue one with the chrome wheels is sick. I would get one! And matt you know im not ***.

not gonna dog the miata

I think it would be a fun car to have, but it's not practical in the real world. I just have to say that I've been looking at other cars over the last few days. I used to work at Mazda, so I got my MSP for next to nothing, but I never drove some of the competition, and let me tell you I was pretty shocked. We piss and moan about our MSP's having all these strange little piss-me-offs, but I drove an SRT-4 and that thing is a s*** stick. It pulls a little harder than my speed, but I really could barely tell until I was going 90 mph. It sounds exactly the same as my car, but the shifter was all jello like, along with the clutch, I hated it which really suprised me because I was fearing that I would want it after feeling the rush. It was just the medication I needed to fall back in love with my speed after a year. Then I drove a WRX. That car was really fun. I liked it because there was no turbo lag at all and it didn't even feel like it was turbocharged, it pulled very strong and the shifter/clutch was a lot better than the srt-4 although nowhere close to the MSP (I don't know how anyone could not love our shifter/clutch assembly).

Anyway, I drove a lot of cars including a non-msp miata and the WRX was the only one I would consider, but a new one is near 10K more than I bought my MSP for a year ago, and it certainly doesn't seem like 10K more car. bottom line...good luck, but think long and hard about giving up the Speed.

Changed my mind. I'm getting a Cabrio. One of the old ones that's white on white.

You can get a headlight conversion, that makes the lights only open up halfway, and instead of one bug eye, it's two smaller round lights, that actually looks very nice. And yes, the miata can look balls to the floor amazing, and on a low amount of money, can be made an amazingly fast ass car, under 20g, will make the car a full race car, with more power than you could ever shake a stick at...and thats including the price of the car, and includes engine mods, suspension and wheels, roll bar, racing seats and harnesses, and everything cool.

Bleh, I'm getting back in the hot tub. I just don't think of it as a drift car because of it's lack of horsepower in NA form. But I am quite aware of the stout nature of the BP and the handling prowess.

there fun cars i was giving you a hard time, just get your self a FC rx-7..lol

Ok good hehe.

My girlfriends dad has a 92 miata with all the chassis stiffening parts you can buy, a CAI and manifold back exhaust, IT ROCKS!

I'd say go for it if you need to save some money and you don't live where there are bad winters.

I dunno why everyone cracks on miatas as girly...90% of the miata drivers I see are middle aged or teenage males!

Why not just get a Smart Car if you are going for the girly car effect...
It's made by Swatch and has 600cc of Purse Whipping Power!

For the love of god... don't do it man. Your speed doesn't deserve this :( Sure the miata takes her top off on demand. But your speed... she has a sexy body, nice on the inside, and a real freak when she down-shifts on you. Dozens of guys would love to burn rubber w/ her anyday.:D

The Dude has spoken.

Dude,
It's the Dude here. Trust Miatas are for chicks. Nothing good will come of you driving a Miata. And don't bowl on Shabas.
