thinking of getting rid of the MSP

Man, I say go for it. If you really like a miata go for it. It got great engine and a great chassis. I especially like the 93 miata. Miata is a better car ppl, it was supposed to be a cheap alternative to the bygone cars of roadster aka lotus elan. And this is the car that brought the roadster back from the grave. The BP engine is better than a FS, also. It's a not a chicks car, just because it's tiny and cute. Then I would say all of us that drive a compact car is girly, that's just bs. Miata rocks. Miata = The only reason why Mazda isn't 100% owned by some american company.
 
I'm not arguing that the Miata isn't a very capable car and as the pics show its definitely possible to add some style to the car and make it look sharp. However, there are some cars that just seem to be cars owned by girls and women and in my humble and uneducated opinion this is one of them. It shouldn't matter that women drive that car I guess so if you like the car go for it. I still wouldn't own one.
 
I <3 miata's. I'd take a turbo miata over an MSP anyday. Most of the people in this thread have no clue wtf they're talking about. Have fun with the miata if you get it!

I say get what you want, who cares what other people think. Your the one paying for it. A miata would be really fun, I've driven a few of them, including a mazdaspeed one I tried to trade my msp in on. I liked it alot, it's like driving a go-kart around, but i was owned on trade in value. The msp's resale value was killed by all the rebates mazda had on them.

Sorry I came late to this thread. I have one of each, a MSP, and a 99 Miata. A Miata is not a girly car. I got the MSP to have a car that was close to the Miata but able to carry more than one other person. The MSP is close to the Miata as far as handling but slightly faster in a straight line. The Miata's engine runs more smoothly, especially at high revs, than the MSP. Even with the Sport suspension and Azenis tires the Miata rides better under most conditions. I love both cars but just for differnet things.
 
and btw- the miata kicks ass!! my Dad has the 94 M Edition.. and he LOVES it! AND.. he isn't gay.

I never payed too much attention to the miata until the mazdaspeed version came out (awsome car.) But i still don't see why sombody would trade in their msp for a regular old miata. Eh whatever (dunno)

True granted the rotaries have contributed to Mazda, but during the most difficult financial time for Mazda, RX7 were only sold in select locations and in very small quantities. The miata were the backbones of Mazda during that time and gave it enough cash flow to continue with minimum foreign influence. That is what I meant
 
Everyone here who talks bad about the miata can shut the hell up. He wants input into if it is a GOOD car. I LOVE my MSP but I've considered buying a mid 90's miata too. I've driven it, its an awesome car. With minor suspension upgrades it will destroy the MSP through a canyon. IBOOST I think you are making a good decision. If you feel that your payment is too high then do what you have to do. You are being smart financially. It is an impressive car, it can be made to look very smooth.

The miata has Way more potential than any 4-door econo-box ever will. :) You could put a turbo kit together for under 1500 bucks and smoke anyone on this site...and most of the money would go into engine management. Miatas are fun as hell, and anyone who talks s*** on one has probably never driven one.

It's real simple Brian. If you don't like it please stay out of my thread.

I know you're pretty knowledgable when it comes to turbo stuff. I respect your knowledge. What I don't respect is your attitude. In the past I honestly would have included you in a handful of people on the board that I would have directed turbo questions to. Hell even in the past I've told people to PM you cause I told them I bet you could help them. But I'm sure you don't care. I'm really trying to be as civil as possible. Just stay out of my thread. Unless you'd like to contribute constructively.

To everyone that has been supportive of my decision, thanks very much. Any other info that you guys would think I would find helpful would be great.
