thinking of deleting ac....

I've been going back and forth on deleting the AC. I don't ever use it. (2 tines in the almost 3 years I've owned it) the real question is what will be affected by deleting it? Obviously no AC but what else? Defroster? Etc. I just really like how clean the engine bay looks without it.

it just wont be able to activate the AC system, which aids in defrosting a helluva lot faster. my ac system is broken (broken line) and it takes forever for the windows to defrost.

As long as there's a thread about it... I removed mine this spring, and I was wondering if it's worth going after any of the components inside the passenger side dash? Right now I just cut off the refrigerant tubing flush with the firewall and otherwise I'll probably find some plastic caps or something to clean it up.

I've wanted to remove mine forever but haven't bitten the bullet yet. What belt did you use in place after you removed?

The correct application would be a 2000 protege 1.8l power steering belt w/o AC (I'm sure there are others... that's just the first one I found)

According to rockauto's parts catalog it's a 5-rib 21/32" wide x 41.25" long

I deleted the A/C (and PS) earlier this spring. One question: Does one of the rad fans only kick on when the a/c is functioning? If so, which one? If one of the fans is now non-functional, I would like to remove it.

i am a softie when it comes to heat, here in ohio its 50 one day 85 the next i need my a/c even though i am curious to see what the results would be without one. buddies of mine up here delete them and say it makes a noticeable difference

^hes right and even then its only when the AC hits a certain temp.

Still really considering this. The only down fall I see is the defroster not being as good.

It's way to hot here to remove the AC that's for sure. I would appreciate the cleaner engine bay but I couldn't tolerate the heat.
