Thinking for buying a Protege 5

Hello

I'm thinking about buying a 2003 Protege 5 5speed with all the options. Give me some opinions about this car. Mainly any problems.

Do a search for tsb (technical service bulliten). There will be some links to web sites with your answers. Other than that I'd say musty smelling ac, clutch chatter, and rusty rotors are big probs that I can remember but easily fixed by the dealership, actually if you are buying new then the dealership should have allready fixed these. The car is an excellent buy so get one and enjoy. Consumer reports loved the car if thats any help. Definately get the 5speed, I didn't have a choice since I'm married and it's not my car. I have a supped up civic so all is well. Also, if you are buying new you should get around 4 grand off the sticker price.

Great car for the money! A fully loaded 5 speed shouldn't run you more than $16, 000 before taxes and fees.

Protege5 is a great buy, now even better with end-of-model rebates from Mazda!

best compact wagon on the market right now! until the Mazda3 hatch shows up at least!!!

Just bought one myself and I would say go for it. Love mine already and would recommend it to anyone. I paid (after rebate, trade in of $1k, and putting down 1k) only 14k and change. And I also have a 5spd and would recommend that.

If you want a value car that's dull and boring, buy something else. If you want a great value, that offers unbelievable function, style, and performance for the money, buy the P5. Reading threads on this forum helped to hook me into buying a P5 just a couple weeks ago. My previous car had 170 hp, but the overall quality of the P5 makes up for that compromise. Since mine is new, I can't speak about problems, but I think its great so far and think nothing else compares to it in its class.

Here's a link to an article that I posted on another thread. Read on, drive one and you'll be posting on here as an owner before you know it. If you want to buy new, act fast since the P5's are dwindling at dealers.
