Thinking about tires

Think on Yokohama Avid 4's T rather than V rating. Seems that the V wear out faster and I really don't plan on driving the car 148 mph or even the 118 the T's are rated for. Any thoughs on the speed rating or other brands of tire??

the only thing yokohamas are good for is their high dollar performance tires... i work in tires so i know a few things about them...i used to have those exact tires on my golf and i would say stay away...i don't really know what to compare them to price wise that is better, but i really dislike those tires...if you want a tire that will last a while and give you a good quality ride, spring for the michelins. they really are worth the difference.

Seeing as you live in PA, check out the Falken ZIEX ZE 512s, thats what I have, pretty good all season UHP tire, or the Pirelli P Zero Neros, another excellent all season UHP. I have a 99 ES and stock it came with a V rated tire, most people agree its not a great idea to go to a lower tire rating than OEM specs, but its up to you. Just my 2C. Thanks Nik

If I could get my car to 148mph, I would...
Dunno about the Avids but I've been running the Yoko AVS ES100s and they are awesome.
We'll see how long they last, though...

What kind of advise is this? Which Michelin? The retread truck tires or their airplane tires? Which model tire do you mean?

Ive had something called Road Huggers 215-40-16 they were the worst performance tires ever owned. Dont know who makes them.

Ive had, Nitto 450 Extreme, 205-40-16 and got bubbles in two of four tires. Handling and dry traction was good. Very wet weather traction was impressive, or I got lucky.

Currently I have BF Goodrich G-Force. No question that these are the best tires Ive put on my protege. I can put them into a corner and feel very confident Im not going to eat curb.

If I could afford the Michelin Pilots I would own them.
