Thinking about buying the unichip

do an advanced search. put "unichip" in the field with the option set to "search titles only". you will find over 100 threads on it....

I have a unichip with WRX 440CC injectors. I brought my car to GRD to get it tuned.

The tuner was able to get my car tuned somewhat. Here is the problem. The unichip doesn't scale injector it only goes by percentages. At low RPMs the unichip was not able to pull enough fuel with the larger injectors. So I was still very rich at low rpms. With the car tuned it still ran much better than ever before. But you could feel a chug at certain RPMs

If you get a unichip I would recommend running stock injector and adding addition injectors to get more fuel. I will be trying this route after my engine build is complete.

ya the high boost setting is a little strange just because it does appear to be a large drawn out spike... however, as far as i know no one on here has blown an engine with unichip at either boost setting... so apparently its not too dangerous.

i love my unichip. it truly makes the car drive completely differantly. it no longer feels like some POS aftermarket turbo system slapped on the protege but a well refined factory system... like it should have been.

Well, that seals the deal for me.
I plan on buying a Unichip as soon as I can after I get the CustomMSP SMIC & hard pipes.

I have a couple questions. I just recently installed my unichip and it's a great addition to the car. Runs so much better than it did stock. Yesterday I installed my 2.5apexi dp and now the car wants to boost to 15-17 psi in the lower rpms and then drop to 11-12 psi on high boost. Should i just put the low boost map back on or just get it tunned?

If you plan on getting more mods soon, it might be worth it to just wait until they are installed before getting tuned. I don't know what your situation is, but it might get kinda expensive to get it tuned after every mod you make.

Dude, you're in Stafford? I'm in Falls Church. Should hang out sometime.

Theninemilly - Holy snap! Nice RSX. Supercharged, DCSports RH, and Hondata flash? Have you timed your 1/4 mile?

well i got intake, dp and unichip. Getting exhaust and FMIC very soon. SHould i be worried that it is boosting that high in the lower rpms 3500-4500?

I actually like in lake ridge now so im not that far from you. If you see a orange msp with mzdaspd license plate and work rims(when it warms up) it's me. I should be lowered in a couple weeks on K-sports

Unichip seems like the way to go for me seeing as how I have no idea how to tune. I am still worried about the boost spike issue, I dont want a blown motor. Can someone with the unichip and aftermarket exhaust please state your experience.
Thanks!

Edit: Can this boost spike be adjusted with tuning or is the BC not adjustable?

The EBC can be adjusted. I've talked to Josh@ Unichip about adjusting mine for me. They can do it, or any other certified tuner. I've never had a spike with my Unichip EBC with my exhaust (3"GHL Downpipe to a 60mm JIC).

The UC IS supposed to have a 12psi spike before it settles to 10psi though. Its a compromise on boost gain and fuel delivery.

ok we all know this works for msp's but howabout regualtor protege's? I got
an o2 clamp and my gas milage suxs ass, runs great under boost but a/f meter is pegged at idle! is this normal? if it aint im guessing my o2 clamp is bad.

That site wanted me to set up a group buy but I did not want to go through the hassle on here. They were ready to drop the price lower but other vendors were getting pissed because it was below the limit people are allowed to sell them at.

Anyway... I am looking into getting my unichip tuned....
