Thinking about buying a Mazda3(speed)

I have a 1990 300zx n/a right now and im looking to upgrade to something newer. I have done some research and looking around and came across the Mazda3 hatchback. I dont want to go back more than a few years old, maybe 4 or 5. In those year models, what have some of you seen as far as recurring problems, things you like, easy upgrades and such. 300's are a pain in the *cough* for anyone that has ever owned one and its killing me in repairs. Its between a Mazda3 and a Scion TC right now. All and any opinions are welcome.

Welcome!! Personally I would suggest a MAZDASPEED but the regular 3 is a blast to drive as well. Mazda'a are good running, long lasting cars so, if you're looking to buy used have it checked out. Buy from a private seller whenever possible.

Almost any Mazda 3 would do, and this is coming from someone who had a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 and is now driving a 2012 Mazda 3i Touring Skyactiv hatch. For the most connection to your car, I'd definitely opt for a manual transmission, though.

I have a speed3 and my girlfriend has a 2006 TC. Even though I've only had mine for a week it's feels more luxurious inside and feels more solid than her TC. I've never like the driving position of the TC though. Just my .02
