thinking about an 04 msm

how reliable are they? i would think a hair under a normal miata which would be excellent.

i found an 04 near me with 42k miles
asking 11,750.

looks to be in great shape, he has all service records, clean title.

what's a good price you think i can get him down to? 10,500 ?

what do i look for when buying a used one?

i am thinking big enchilada package right off the bat.

i currently drive an 08 mazdaspeed3 so i wanted to keep it in the family lol
i considered a used s2k but they are to expensive and have a way higher
chance of getting stolen/broken into.

well i went to look @ it today, the lowest he will go is 11,500.
its pretty clean, just 1 med size door ding, and a broken passenger side
fog light. it has a flyin miata downpipe and an autopower roll bar already.
the tires are fairly new with 2k miles on it.

im on the fence right now, thoughts?

Had an 05... never broke once, best car ever... had to sell now drive a mazdaspeed6, but I wish I still had a msm... cept when it snows, don't even imagine driving

i bought an 04 msm last fall, love it...the price doesn't sound bad...from what i've read you can't go wrong with a miata....do you have a trusted mech you can take it to....have him check it out for you?

I've had mine for nearly three years and it's on the way to being the most reliable car I've ever owned. 58K and no problems.

My 200SX SE-r went to 84K and needed an alternator... we'll see if the MSM goes that well. My other cars... not even close to this reliable.


Mine is pretty decently modded as well.

That peice cost $207 from the dealership. I just recently bought myself a new one, $161 from onlinemazdaparts.com

I've owned two Miata, a 97 and the current 04 MSM. In the last 10 years of being a Mazda owner, I haven't had any major issues. With the 97, the valve cover gasket sprung a leak around 60k miles but other than that, it was normal maintenance stuff.

My MSM has 36k miles and hasn't had any mechanical issues.
