thicker head gasket

Im going turbo soon and I was thinking about adding a thicker head gasket to help keep it as safe as possible. Who sells aftermarket head gaskets? How thick of a gasket would I have to get to even make a difference??? Is anyone running a thicker head gasket on a turbo protege???

I thought, somewhere on this board, in a thread a long time ago in a part of the interspace far, far away, something mentioned this very thing.

Bascially, there was nothing. I think you can run two stock gaskets, but its not really worth it. Only one head gasket is recomended. I forget who ran two, and it lowered the compression very little and would not seal exactly right with out super tightening the freakin' head down.

I forget the exact details, all I remember is one is better than two, and nothing other than stock is available.

As long as your not running above stock Rpm range a stock gasket with the right torque settings and a perfectly flat surface should be fine.. but i dont really know what you got.. hope i could help..

bump! id like to know as well.
Don't spend mon ey on just a gasket, save up and builod your block. You have everything you need to build and awesome set up. I'm waiting for you to build mine, when you want we can build up both.

I have heard this a dozen times, and it's absolutly not going to help you,all your doing with a thicker gasket is giving more room for failure.

now,I have seen o-ringed blocks with copper gaskets run thick just for clearence on oversized valves, but it's because they had no choice, and not for lower compression.
