The Stock REAR SPEAKERS ARE 6 INCH!!

I am here to tell you that the rear speakers that come stock in the rear doors of the P5 are 6's NOT 6 1/2!!.....

HOWEVER.....a 6 1/2 will go in there nicely.....BUT...if you want to remove the rain guard from the stock speaker and use it on your upgrade...they will NOT fit on a 6 1/2....that is unless you do some cutting and trimming....which I did. I installed Rockford Fosgate FRC3206's in the rear doors....they sound GREAT!! and I did use the rain guards...but they actually required me to cut them so that they could spread out a bit to fit the LARGER speaker diameter.

Another great piece of info for those of us looking at upgrading our speakers for our P5's. SirNuke, are you adding an amp or just wiring the new speakers directly to the HU?

Post your opinions on the way it sounds after the install pls.

YES I am adding an AMP.....I just did the door speakers today. The sound is a bit better...but they aren't getting any more juice yet....the amp is in the box....just waiting....will get to it in a few days. THAT is what will make the difference when the doors are getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 to 40 watts.

I.....BUT...if you want to remove the rain guard from the stock speaker and use it on your upgrade.

What's the rain guard? ....a baffle? I didn't notice this when I replaced my speakers.

look at the picture....OBVIOUSLY the speaker on the right is the stock one.....see the black cover that is sticking up...think of it this way...if you were looking up from the bottom of the door, that is how you would see that speaker....that guard is on TOP of the speaker...and now it looks like it is behind it. and as stated, when installed it is on the top such that any water that may leak by the window seals and drip down won't hit the cone of the speaker....but rather the guard and go to the bottom of the door.
