The Slammed Life

Ok the hole size isn't the problem.

Turns out the wheels are 5x112.

Thoughts on opening up the holes a little bit with a 5/8 bit and then using wobble lug nuts? Or should I just sell them?

I would just sell them. I don't think there is such a thing as wobble nuts, only wobble bolts haha, even if there are, its not that safe.

You could run adapters if the offsets aren't ridiculous. I think the smallest adapters you're going to find are 20mm though.

Yeah adapters aren't going to work they're already +30.

I think I'll just sell them, should be able to make money on them considering I got them for cheap.

That sucks. They were probably 114.3 before someone redrilled and added those metal inserts.

Perfect!! Well...could use some tint. But that car looks good!

This is my first time checking out the topic... and wow! These are some really nice mazdas!

I have a 2003 protege5
Yellow speed coilovers just arrived, waiting on awr rear sway bar w/ adjustable rear endlinks to come... right now i have moog (2002 ford escape) front endlinks... stock size just beefier. I'm wondering if these will do with the coilovers or if I will need shorter ones possibly even another adjustable pair...

running 215/45/17 tires on 17" ASA AR1 rims with +48 offset
wondering what else i will need and if you guys think i will be able to achieve the slammed life! haha i hope so!

just a few concerns
1- the front end links as mentioned above
2- the rear has no camber on these but i noticed rar has a p5 with yellow speeds and a rear camber? hmmm
3- i have a feeling ill run into problems mounting the abs and brake line onto the tabs for the front (reach issue, not enough slack i guess) and the rear is just baffling me. It came with a "yellow speed tool kit" with 2 different brackets... so im confused

other than that cant wait to show you guys! im hopefully able to install this weekend if the rear sway comes in on time!

You can use those stock front endlinks, if anything actually you'd need longer adjustable ones. But it's up to you really.

Rar has adjustable lateral links which is how he dialed in that much camber. The top hole on the bottom mount of your coils may come slotted which you can use for camber. How wide are your wheels? The offset isn't very aggressive so you shouldn't need much camber to fit those wheels.

My brake lines are just free, they stayed in the stock position from being held like that for so long. They don't really come in contact with anything, not on my car at least.

Ya yellow speeds come stock with slotted camber and also u can can slot it more. I ave worked a lot on my suspension so if u have any questions just ask us

Sweet! That was super fast. You guys are awesome haha

I think my sway bar is scheduled to come in on monday so maybe I wont be able to install until NEXT weekend (boo!) but Im sure Ill have questions for you guys during the process if I run into any issues (first time installing coilovers.. I did tokico struts and rb springs successfully minus all the rust, locked bolts, and cutting through endlinks hence the moog replacements in the front.. they actually are a TAD longer than stock so this is good news!)

I understand how the front struts camber, it is on the top where the strut mount attaches but I've been looking at the rear and I'm a bit confused about that camber.. hmm im not too sure what "the top hole on the bottom mount" means. I will try to look into that

as far as my rims they are ASA AR1 17" Black with machined lip... they were on my car when I bought it so I don't know much about them. I looked and found the +48 offset on the back of the rim but I don't have time to take it off right now or I'll be late for class. I did a quick search and found this chart http://www.zinikwheels.com/specs.cfm?id=1277
so by process of elimination... BML, 17", +48, i think they have to be 17x7 ( AR17I72BML BML 17.0 7.0 5X114.3 n/a 73.00 48 )

I got new tires last year that are 215/45/17, kind of wishing I went with 40s but I suppose when they wear out Ill pick up a set of 18" enkeis with a lower profile tire on craigslist!

do you guys see any problems with fender rub (i kind of think I will need to roll them a little bit) and finally, do you think i will be able to join the Slammed Life with this setup haha

The end link u have will work. The rear camber is easy u have two bolts where the strut attaches to the knuckle. Ok there is a top and a bottom bolt. All u do is push the knuckles and there I have camber but u have to hae slotted camber u will see wHen I get UR coils there is a little slot on the too one and the bottom one is round

so after reading what you said, Rar, and reading this post and watching the video "how to slot bc coilovers" http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...quot-Slot-BC-Coilovers-on-Protege5-MP3-MSP-ES

it seems to me like he basically drilled out so he could add camber in the knuckle basically just "pushing" the whole rotor back some?

but what you're saying is that the yellow speeds are already slotted so I won't need to drill anything out? just "push" them back to my desired camber?

Yup they come pre drilled and they have a video on YouTube on how to increase camber cause they come slotted but u had to slot my coils some more cause I needed more camber

Ok the time has come for me to get coilovers, I wan to get yellowspeeds... I have one question though, when you guys are setting your height for all corners do you measure from center of wheel to fender arch or is it from ground to fender arches to get the corners equal?

Doesn't matter, you can do either.

I usually do ground to fender though.
