The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

My name was my rate and rank while serving in the USN - Cryptologic Technician (Technical) third class - plus P5 for my car. Thought it was cool enough to have Barry (Jackelope) make some custom vinyl for me too. :)

The quill and lightning bolt crossed are the designation for a CT rate and the eagle and one chevron represent petty officer third class (two chevrons would represent a petty officer second class, three a first class and then on to Chief). Take away the anchors, the *not to be mentioned other forum name* and the P5 and that is what I wore on my sleeve.

Avatar is from when I had a flat tire last year, just never changed it.

Well damn...worth a shot.

Today was my 29th year in the Navy (retired a few years ago). I never put anything together for my login with the Navy stuff, good idea though! Started as an Instrumentmen (Calibration Tech), and retired as an ET1 (First Class Electronic Tech).

The intake I put on the smart car is too much fun. Let's see how many more mpg
I can lose.... It sounds mean for a little 1 liter hahahaha

Sooo, I was thinking the other day, how do some of these members come up with their user name?

So how did you guys come up with your user names? Ready.... go.

Mine is easy as well...just my name lol

As for my avatar, I'm not sure how I chose it. I just saw it one day and thought it was awesome haha

3x112. There are 5x112 adapter spacers for VW wheels but... Meh. Not a huge fan. 4x100 is too close, but a company does make an adapter :/ the only good bolt pattern I found that would work well was 6x114.3. It puts a hole on either side of each existing hole. And if you lined up the holes, obviously 3 line up and 3 are in between. But the diameter is off 2.3mm...

what happened to Laurie setting up that night golf event??

there didn't seem to be a HUGE interest in it and forgot about it : / but there is still one more this year, on Friday, Oct 19 at 645pm at Mastick Woods.

ive done it before, its a BLAST

the one night golf i went to was fun, they had some lights around the course and your golf ball was clear, you inserted a small glow stick into the ball and just had to make sure you didnt hit the ball directly on the hole for the glow stick and everything was good, they had glow sticks on the pins and a couple to help outline fairways and greens... was alot of fun, something that definitely made you trust your swing

they used to use those balls, but the last time i played moonlight golf they had new balls that blinked when you hit it ... the only problem with that is that you had to make sure you found your ball QUICK or it would stop blinking and then you'd be SOL ... LOL

This sounds like something I would play all of three holes before loosing all of my golf balls, saying "The hell with this", and then drinking the rest of the night away at the bar. (lol2)

it's actually A LOT easier to find your glowing ball in the dark, then during the day if it's under leaves or whatever ...

if my memory serves right that was LRP 2010, and we went 1st (68 car),2nd or 3rd (69 car), and 4th (70 car)

twas a good day, followed by the long drive and the attempted different route that ended up with us driving ALL friggin night, i didnt get home til like 6am and had to go right to work... hahaha

yeah, we haven't taken that way home since : /

In other news, I received the appointment for biometrics (fingerprint and picture) for my naturalization application for next Friday. At this rate, I'll be a citizen by October.

woohoo! congrats Pablo!! we'll have to have a red white and blue themed party to celebrate!!

oh, and coppertone came from the color of my car "blazing copper metallic" and the gallons of coppertone sunscreen i used as a teen at the jersey shore ...

whew! just got through reading 20 pages to get caught up ... now lunch time!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the retirement! Looking back, I'd be celebrating my 21st year or my first year with a retirement check. lol Did you cross rate due to overmanning or because you wanted to? Shortly after I joined they merged the CTT rate with the CTR rate and then we were at about 110% manning and they were looking for volunteers to crossrate into admin, ops or linguist positions. At the time wasn't really thrilled about signing up for another six years to do another ~year of school. Should have though since a linguist buddy of mine got an SRB of 10K!

A very good write up by a very interested party that has raced in / with both series and / or support series, regarding the ALMS / GA merger.

http://www.mikeskeen.com/2012/09/thoughts-on-the-grand-amalms-merger/

TL;DR:

Classes will likely be a faster DP / more robust LMP2 class (P2 cars were going to be all new for 2014 anyway), ALMS GT class (due hugely to the massive factory involvement), and a "catchall" GTC / Rolex GT / Rolex GTX class. Also, some schedule stuff ;)

EDIT: Thread in the motorsports section RE the merger for discussion. No need to clutter up y'alls local thread :).

That is by far the most accurate and honest assessment of the new combined series that I've read so far. I'm going to take the rest of my comments over to the other thread :)
